In a rhus to go to work so if this has been posted before sorry. I woke up this morning to a computational error, it seems to have happened when switching to another projects WU, does WCG WU's not like the client doing that or have I just had a bad WU.

Here is the other 'Unrecoverable' post, over on Linux Agent Support: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4436#34757
It is somewhat different. Just to build up our error log, could you tell us what OS and how much RAM your system has? Until we get more of these, I cannot even guess what might have gone wrong. mycrofth |

Im running Windows 2000 and 256Mb of RAM. Yes, they do. If you turn off your computer and come back, you will not lose too much.Do the WU's have checkpoints on them??? There are graphic indicators that will show you when a checkpoint has just been passed, if you want to lose as little as possible. That would take a few more paragraphs to explain.

Out of 5 Results so far I have had 2 Fail both when BOINC switches over to a different project and 1 has been fully completed just got my 2nd error this morning
----------------------------------------So it looks like some of the WU's dont like it when BOINC switches I will let my remaining 2 crunch and see what happens. I know someone else has said it doesn't error out on there new WU's so when I get some more new ones I will keep you informed. I'm now on BOINC 5.2.8 25/11/2005 04:25:08|World Community Grid|Pausing result de407_21_1 (removed from memory) 25/11/2005 04:25:09|SETI@home|Starting result 14oc03aa.3333.32001.298580.104_2 using setiathome version 418 25/11/2005 04:25:10|World Community Grid|Unrecoverable error for result de407_21_1 ( - exit code -164 (0xffffff5c)) 25/11/2005 04:25:10||request_reschedule_cpus: process exited 25/11/2005 04:25:10|World Community Grid|Computation for result de407_21_1 finished |

Hello Halifax--lad,
5.2.8 seems to have fixed some bugs in 5.2.7. Were your reported errors on 5.2.7? mycrofth |

The WU's were downloaded on 5.2.7 but are getting crunched on 5.2.8 after I upgraded the other day. I will see what the rest do and also wait until it crunches some newly downloaded ones then I will report back

I am running WCG on four machines that were converted to BOINC 5.2.13 in the Dec. 4 through Dec. 7 timeframe. Here are the stats and errors as reported by BOINCVIEW.
WinXP SP2 192MB 1 completed 1 failed error -1073741819 (0xC0000005) WinXP SP2 512MB 8 completed 3 failed error -1073741819 (0xC0000005), 1 failed error 70 (0x46) Win98 192MB 2 completed 1 failed error -164 (0xFFFFFF5C) Linux 192MB 6 completed 0 failed Other than the operating system, I don't see anything that would explain why the Linux client is showing no errors while about 50% of the Windows runs are failing. All four machines run WCG and Seti, while thw 512MB machine is also running Climateprediction.net. The Linux client has been cycling between WCG and SETI until today, when it ran out of work from SETI. I ran WCG (standalone) for about a year on the WinXP 512MB PC and the Win98 192MB PC and was not aware of getting these kinds of problems. Then again, I wasn't checking the WCG logs. If you require any additional information to help diagnose the problem, please let me know. I can try to run WCG all by itself on one of the Windows machines. Norbert |

We have identified a fix for the exit status '-1073741819' errors. We are testing this in our development environment and I hope to release it later today. We suspect that this will also fix the -164 errors as well. These errors were specific to the BOINC Windows agents only.
Thank you for providing that information (and the information that is automatically provided back to our servers when an error is generated). This gave us the information we needed to identify the problem. Kevin |
