Hello,
----------------------------------------I received a badge that normally takes 90 days in less than 2 weeks. Is progress measured by tasks completed and not time? If so, the badges should be renamed to improve metric clarity. Ex: "Congrats, you earned a 1000 tasks completed badge" rather than a 45 days badge etc. That way it makes more sense. Thank you! ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by cancersux at Feb 21, 2025 11:14:18 PM] |

Awarding badges is based upon how much computing time a member has contributed to a certain project. That's why you have received a "90 day badge", if I understand you correctly.

Hello, The naming of the badges is crystal clear. It refers to the sum of the CPU time of all returned and validated WUs of a project.I received a badge that normally takes 90 days in less than 2 weeks. Is progress measured by tasks completed and not time? If so, the badges should be renamed to improve metric clarity. Ex: "Congrats, you earned a 1000 tasks completed badge" rather than a 45 days badge etc. That way it makes more sense. Thank you! ![]() ![]() This is also explained in the Help section: Project Badges: There are 11 levels of badges awarded based upon how much computing time a member has contributed to each project: Though there is a slight error in the help, there are 12 levels of project badges, as at some point a 200y badge was added, which is not listed on the help page. And the help also lists the more logical badge colors before the switch from IBM to Krembil, when the color scheme was changed to a rather meaningless mix of pastel colors... Bronze - 14 days Silver - 45 days Gold - 90 days Ruby - 180 days Emerald - 1 year Sapphire - 2 years Diamond - recognizing higher levels of contribution of 5, 10, 20, 50 and up to 100 years of computing time Recruitment Badges: There are 5 levels of badges awarded based on how many new people a member has recruited to World Community Grid: Bronze - 1 new member Silver - 5 new members Gold - 10 new members Ruby - 25 new members Emerald - 50 new members ![]() hth, Ralf ![]() |

The misunderstanding is in the definition of time.
----------------------------------------It is not elapsed time, the amount of time that the entire computer has been running WCG, it is core time, so if you have a PC capable of running 45 tasks at once running 24/7, you will get a 90 day badge in 2 days. True, roughly. ![]() That is, as soon as the tasks have been validated successfully. It's something that everybody knows, because it is so self-evident, so much so that we forget to mention it. It is or can be an important factor not to be forgotten. ![]() Adri |
