But, by dumping this project they have damaged their investment on public relations and goodwill. I don't feel that is the case at all because it is up to the individual if they want to process work for "World Community Grid". As I have said before a project does not have to produce work 24/7. Boinc's purpose was never for a project to provide work 24/7, yes it is nice to have work available all the time however it is not required. At least that is my understanding of the Boinc platform |

Can't disagree with that but I don't see how this relates to IBM dumping the project and the damage done to their public relations and goodwill. It's a bit like "Here's your brand new Rolls Royce. Now all you need to do is assemble it" They could have sent in a swat team and made it work on SHARCNET then said good bye. It's OK to think that WCG is not a Rolls Royce. It was just an example of an expensive car. Substitute it with anything you want like "clunker". |

They could have sent in a swat team and made it work on SHARCNET then said good bye. Yes they could have. That would be like selling Rolls Royce then setting it up for for the person that bought it then leaving, to me it defeats the purpose of selling.I feel the very small team is doing a fantastic job running the project. |

This is exactly what I would want if I could afford one except I would want to drive it away after they set it up for me... but anyway.Yes, they are doing a fantastic job with what they have and probably are understaffed with not tons of resources. I meant the WCG software is a clunker but it works. To their credit they are the only BOINC project which has continuous WUs. All the rest I have tried during the last month and during the IBM transition period all ran dry after some time. [Edit 1 times, last edit by BobbyB at Jan 19, 2025 3:23:15 PM] |

I guess it would be a good thing if a project did run dry and then they posted a goodbye message which said something like: "We have no more work because we have found a solution (cure, resolution) to the disease or problem we were researching. We thank you for your contribution. Now go and help solve another one of mankind's vexing problems." However, I have to see any messages like this. But, hope springs eternal. Cheers

MCM is the only project currently running. ARP is paused.

When I go to the ARP Web Site it says that it is up and running - where are you getting your information from? Do they have a date that they will be back up and running?

I was one of the lucky ones; got 1 ARP run and returned overnight. Otherwise I'm all MCM all the time.
