I am getting my ARP uploads to actually go through, but it is a struggle with quite a few retries. And when they finally start to go through, they are slooooow.

Yes, I am getting uploads through eventually. Also a trip to the event log revealed why I am not getting any more work.

I've set WCG to not fetch any new tasks. Absolutely no point until I can upload 3 ARP WU's. It's now well over 24 hours that they have been trying to upload.
----------------------------------------Debating whether it is worth continuing with the ARP project. What a sad way to solve the problem... having your users abandon ship. It has now been 13 days since the project restarted... I had hoped it would "settle down". ![]() |

DITTO Uploads.... 5 were just under due time because THE DOWNLOAD IS SLOW TOO!!! Some ARP WU uploads took close to half a day out of three day due time.

Kind of stupid. We are converting electricity (sometimes made out of coal or gas or uranium) into calculations and then these calculations are thrown into trash can cause the server for the uploads is to slow. I do not think this is in the interest of helping anyone when we waste energy.
----------------------------------------I am fine with results uploading at 20 kB/s. Much better than not uploading and BOINC raising the retry time over and over again. Does not help that BOINC retries upload only every couple hours. The current solution with slow but successful uploads seems to be good. Much better than failing 5 times and BOINC deciding to retry in 4 hours. [Edit 2 times, last edit by txt.file at Nov 18, 2024 9:02:19 AM] |

Sun 17 Nov 2024 13:43:27 GMT | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: too many uploads in progress Now down to 14 files to upload. At 12, possibly 10 and 8 also I will try getting more work to see how many is too many. |

Well it seems even worse than it was before now! I wouldn't mind if it connected at a slow speed of 15-20KBps and stayed there to completion. It was staying there before after 50-100Kbps to start with sometimes, albeit dropping out nearly all of the time after this and only VERY occasionally uploading for at least a while then and only once or twice uploading to completion. Two machines with ARP1 due times 17th and 18th Nov and NOT EVEN GETTING AN UPLOAD SPEED NUMBER now just transient error straight away!
Nice work to post about 20 years of WCG and everything and NOT even reply to this thread about what's going on instead and what's being done! Is anyone even WORKING on this problem does anyone think/know or even know about it? I THINK they meant 19 years of WCG (almost let's say 18 odd). We're still waiting on the last two or so persons Krembil! That's 20-2 = 18 years. Put THAT in your WCGadmin post BEFORE I make my donation of at least 108CAD (could be more as I'm currently selling something at £450 on ebay - do you WANT any more at all persons Krembil?) at 1GBP = 1.8CAD soon or at least I will be WHEN someone writes to acknowledge there is a problem possibly AND does something about it and NOT before! I REALLY don't see that as a TWENTY at all persons Krembil. EIGHTEEN as stated! |

Thanks everyone for your comments here. Be sure I read them all even if not mentioned.
@Dayle Diamond: Jurisica HAS contributions (50 years MCM) but **ONLY** >>45 days<< for ARP! (so there you go... if you can call that someone who works for/on behalf of WCG as a whole at all - and not just an academic per se in the vernacular. Seemingly the latter folks... as he would have been involved by now and done something about it. Like kicked someone, or something. Where they need kicking you know... Right?) I would find it incredulous if they didn't have a single machine at that lab (Krembil) or Jurisica Lab or whateverthe...you call it running WCG, especially ARP. AND it's causing knock-on effects for MCM uploads because it's trying to upload INSTEAD and CAN'T which is taking time away from MCM. Also MCM uploads **AREN'T working properly EITHER** folks and getting stuck of their own volition/accord... AND BOTH ARP1 **AND** MCM uploads are sometimes taking 2-3 minutes to timeout with a transient error ALSO which is taking up a lot of time. Basically it's ALL going on at Krembil/Jurisica Lab/WCG (like I say whateverthe... you call it) at the moment folks... AND even the KITCHEN SINK is likely blocked I'd reckon also! (If not their ears, or rather eyes to hear or read this). Just make DAMN sure persons Krembil/Jurisica Lab you DO have AT LEAST one machine running WCG (all projects). I mean you gotta think it would be INCREDULOUS if they didn't have ONE machine running there crunching (but we can but conjecture/speculate).. like I say. I spend 4 hrs PLUS a day "retry now" of late.... donation **PENDING** (someone who reads "Recent Threads" thoroughly & can write back and let us know stuff is being fixed like the guys at IBM used to. And yeah.... assuming you'd NOTICE a problem with WCG when IBM were running it.... by the time you HAD... it had been fixed already!) |

I have 5 waiting for upload, since yesterday (deadline past) or before.
Currently 7 running. Clearly deadlines need extending. I have turned off this proj until the issue is resolved. Richard |

@Richard, I am sure there will be people that will pick up the work you are not doing. Hopefully we will see you again soon
