ARP1 workunit *serious* UPLOAD problem since last night! Deadlines may need extending.

Connection either disconnected immediately with a "HTTP transient error" or connects at about 50 odd KBps (typically - may be higher) and gradually or immediately goes down to under 20Kbps and drops with same error after a few tens of seconds at most (may be a few minutes). I've just observed one uploading at just 10-15KBps (avg 12.5KBps) for over 20 minutes now. Don't know if it will make it. At 100% uploaded now and done but the chances of getting one uploaded must be pretty close to zero if not zero. It's the only one that has gotten this far and uploaded after trying "retry now" since last night for two workunits and getting up to 5hr timeouts on the ones I tried last night. I keep a close eye on this stuff and it got A LOT WORSE to upload (if not nearly impossible) last night!

I just wanted it to be VERY clear to people when they come in on Monday most likely. I know others have mentioned this hidden in the main news thread from "savas" on ARP and MCM issues and elsewhere, but it needs addressing right away. Someone mentioned a server may be full perhaps but I just got one uploaded of about 15MB. The "_6" appended workunit files seem to go OK. Started last night and I have couple of workunits due tomorrow (Sunday), couple on Monday also. Causing a knock-on effect with MCM uploads, which were struggling anyway only seem to work half the time at most due transient errors again. Deadlines will need extending here I expect.

I'm spending at least 4 hours a day clicking "retry now" on both downloads AND uploads (especially downloads for ARP) anyway with two computers running, 12 threads each with couple of ARP's per machine. Windows 10 BOINC 7.20.2.

Thanks for reading. Sure you all have similar problems.

Similar here:
- Upload seem to have massive problems at the moment. Several WUs show 'Upload: pending'.
Some have deadline 17.11.2024 -> so maybe lost, as that's Sunday and I'm afraid nobody will care on weekend.
Windows 11, BOINC 8.0.2 (x64)

Same here. Uploads building up faster than I am crunching and that with only one ARP task running at a time. When more of my CPDN work clears and another ten cores start crunching.....

There's a reason this will all become very clear when they come in on Monday.

Nobody involved is running World Community Grid on their own devices. You can see it when they post here. Zero contributions. We're trying our darndest to contribute for the benefit of humanity, but everyone who could fix these errors doesn't particularly care.

As much as I agree with their lack of competence, I don't think it's fair to criticize the accounts not having any credit. If I was in charge of an official account, it would definitely be separate from my own, personal BOINC one, and I'd be crunching under my name, not under my project one. That's not to say they are / aren't helping, but assuming they're not is a bit unfair.

Same here.

You're perfectly right with the expectation of minimum personal engagement.
If this iis too much additional work i would ask another question:

Why nobody does a student research project at Krembil or the involved universities ?

At least to get faster into it, when errors nearly close down projects.
All IBM employee posting in the forums had project badges in their profiles, indeed.

hope to upload some of all these jobs.
since a few hours i am getting no new work as well.

Or on the flipside they could be more than happy with the amount of results that have been returned

Or in other words, they are totally happy with mediocrity. Why strive for excellence when you can have good enough.

Same problem here, I've completed one ARP workload (disabled the project now as the long computation times between snapshots don't fit my PC usage patterns). Due on 20th, so some more days to try, but until now nothing could be uploaded at all.
