Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I've been getting mainly MCM resends. I'm currently working on one from 5/22. I notice from my own list that all my WUs waiting to be sent from 5/22 have now been sent and those from 5/23 are still waiting.

note: 5/22 is the return date of the WU that failed to be returned, and thus why my WU hasn't been declared valid yet.

How is OPNG? The WU send rate looks like it's normal low but consistent rate.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Well, new OPNG tasks is sent out 4 times/day (approximately every 6 hours) To be able to get them, you have to know when it's time for the next delivery of new OPNG tasks. Those of us who get them, in any higher numbers, knows when it's time to ask for them, and then not let BOINC extend the time between when it asks for new work. BOINC as default extends the time, if it doesn't get any work, in the worst of cases to hours.

I can usually pretty easy get more than 100 OPNG task/day, when I run my GPU cruncher 24 hours/day. During the summer, that's not an option though.

Clue: Babysitting is not required, there is a solution by using a boinccmd.exe command.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I think the MCM "waiting to be sent" issue has been resolved. I'm getting website errors, so hopefully this posts.
Steady flow of MCM and OPNG.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Not many "503" errors recently, but the website is constantly extremely slow. It takes a very long time to update any page, and posting a reply to this forum, isn't exactly instant either.

Edit: And when looking at this forums "Who's Active" page, there's more than 25 thousand Active Users hitting the forum, almost all as "Guest". Only a few logged in. That many "Guests" must put a strain on the webserver, especially now, when IBM isn't supporting the project, with their horsepower.

How in heavens name can there be so many non logged in users hitting the forum at the same time?

Edit 2: And just loading that page, listing all those 25K+ "Guests", will make you download about 15 MB. So, if you pay for what you up/download, stay away from the "Who's Active" page. It's crazy, and something isn't right.....

I think I can confirm Unixchick's assessment -- for the last couple of days I haven't seen a single required retry get stuck at Waiting to be sent, and my faster systems have been clearing out retries for other people for a day or so longer :-)

However, your stranded task is (as noted previously) somewhat of an oddity in that one of the original two tasks got stuck (possibly because of host O/S confusion)! I rather suspect that clearing that up will need some sort of explicit intervention on the part of the WCG techs, and it may even need the current WU to be abandoned and re-submitted...

Cheers - Al.

[Edited to remove some ambiguity!]

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Hello!
Latest on ARP:

Hi Hans Sveen,

We are waiting to receive some final data files from the ARP team and, provided we do not experience any unforeseen complications, we will be able to restart ARP shortly after we receive this data.

Light on the end of the tunnel looks quite brighter now!!

Hot, hot. hot, again. No more crunching. Not even during the dark(ish) hours. It really doesn't become very dark here now.
