I've noticed that since about 6th January, retries caused by tasks missing deadlines have all seemed to end up with the retry stuck like that. I suspect it may be because of something they have done to maximise the feeding of new work, resulting in lower workunits not being spotted by the default feed process...

It seems to take 6 days to actually get the retry out -- the transitioner will have set a "Check this if there has been no activity" time limit on the work unit (which I think s 6 days!) and I suspect it kicks the retry into the feeder at that point.

I've hardly seen any retries of any form in the last week or two, and every one I've been sent since the 12th has been for a task that failed early (User Aborted or Detached); those would probably have workunit numbers nearer to the current new items.

I only turn over about 150 MCM1 tasks a day (off short queues), and I've been getting two or three of them stuck at Pending Validation for this reason -- 6 days waiting for the initial wingman (which times out) then 6 more days until the Waiting task gets out! I suspect folks with big systems are seeing more of a problem than I am...

There have been other times when there has been a backlog of "Waiting to be sent" items, and it always seemed to clear when there was a sudden drop in new work. Perhaps the techs can toggle something to try to clear the backlog if it gets large enough...

Thanks Unixchick, and right on cue, that example has now been sent. Currently 'in progress'. The long wait is almost over.

Yes, the list of "Waiting to be sent" is growing here too rapidly. My oldest are from (Sent Time) 10/7, and (Time Due) 16/7. I always finish my tasks within 24 hours.

I notice pretty quick when the "Waiting to be sent" issue comes back, because my RAC will drop when that happens.
