Uploading is still working but not reporting or downloading. Yes, same here. However, I see the forum is now working again. I had an error earlier when I tried to log in and got a website not available type of error. Cheers

Looks like all is back to normal for MCM and the system now.
ISSUE: MCM results aren't being cleared from our lists. Some of you must have huge lists. WHAT WE KNOW: Some results return info that stops the program that cleans the results list. They rewrote the program to handle error codes more gracefully so as to get the non-problem results managed. We've seen no evidence of this yet, so this is still a work in progress. ISSUE: When will ARP return? WHAT WE KNOW: This is still a work in progress. Completed WUs were being moved from the WCG system to the ARP system. Is this done? probably a large amount of data, and speed of the transfer is unknown. The second problem was that some WUs for ARP need to be modified to run. This was an issue discovered before the move to WCG, and has caused some sections of the data to be rerun on a smaller time step. The ARP data set is such that the next WU is generated using the results of the previous WU, so a problem like this means rewinding and redoing some sections of the data set. I know this is an issue for the scientists, as they need to be more hands on to tweak certain WUs. The WCG community is ready to put our computers to the task!! Feel free to correct me if I got something wrong, or over simplified it. |

OPNG seems to be at least partially back. See: OpenPandemics - COVID-19 History - 365 Records

I got the impression that as well as the storage issues reported by Delft, the project was moving to another institution. I don't know which. I suspect that the staff are moving too.
If they appreciate the work that we have done, they should give us more information as to what is happening. Mike |

You are correct so far as you go. The patches that have required reduced timesteps appear to be in clusters, so I suspect there is something about the areas that is causing the problem. Perhaps they are mountainous? Some have stuck again after being moved on and the timestep restored. Perhaps those should just be reduced and left on the reduced timestep which might cut the amount of monitoring that the project needs. There are 3 ultra extremes but I suspect only 97 altogether out of over 35,000 need special treatment. It would mean that more crunching would be needed as that is the consequence of reducing the timestep but it would be very small % extra overall. Mike |

Mike Dear Mike, It feels as if you're accusing the staff of supplying insufficient information without sufficient research yourself, so please see the latest news on ARP1: "The ARP team is in the process of moving their data from SURF, a collaborative organization for IT in Dutch education and research, to a cloud service." There is no indiation at all that the staff is moving.
