No, I use (on all machines) a default profile, with 'maximum output' selected. Are you saying a custom profile may work better?

No, I use (on all machines) a default profile, with 'maximum output' selected. Are you saying a custom profile may work better? I use the default profile with 'Custom' selected for all my machines. All project limits are set to 'Unlimited'. Only thing I change is the number of extra days to cache. My cache is set to 2 days. I typically don't have a full 2 days cached, so my machines are constantly asking for work. I get enough MCM work to keep my machines busy. You will need to increase the 'On multiprocessors, at most use: xx processors' setting. The default is the lesser of 16 processors or 100% of processors. Make sure to click the 'Use web prefs' button in the BOINC client under 'Options-Computing Preferences' after changing your web profile. Looks like MCM is flowing... but not enough. I get one or two WUs a day. I'm mainly on my backup project.
Let's hope this new year brings good things for WCG !!! Hopefully we will get an all project update so we can understand what this new year will bring. How is the base system health? upgrades planned? scheduled down times? When will the various projects be coming back? Please bring back ARP soon!!! |

I'm very happy to see Dr. Jurisica posting on the board and wanted to make sure that the info he posted was seen by many, so I put the link in the first post, but I'll also put it here. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,46024
Thank you. |

How is everyone's caches doing?? The numbers of returned WUs for MCM has been falling the last few days (now < 800k/day) but the script in my first post, which is usually around 30-35K is now 90K. So one measure says less than usual WUs , and other measure says more than usual. I'm getting a few WUs, but it looks like my backup project is offline, so I need to hunt for a backup for my backup.
----------------------------------------Here is the info from the page for returned WUs for MCM the top line is only half a days worth of data, but if you look from the bottom of the list up you can see the decrease. 01/04/2024 395,401 01/03/2024 756,147 01/02/2024 744,964 01/01/2024 724,467 12/31/2023 733,159 12/30/2023 763,102 12/29/2023 803,044 12/28/2023 802,362 12/27/2023 819,197 12/26/2023 853,941 12/25/2023 884,860 12/24/2023 888,099 12/23/2023 879,644 12/22/2023 897,270 12/21/2023 901,162 [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Jan 4, 2024 11:48:17 PM] |

Interestingly, Unixchick, 2024-01-04 is shooting up like a rocket:

Did they fix the assimilator issue that was supposedly causing results to back up pending validation? Rumor had it it was supposed to be fixed by the 3rd.

I'm glad they are sending out more WUs. I've actually gotten some today!
My results list is still long, so I can't tell if they fixed the problem. |

My results list is still long, so I can't tell if they fixed the problem. I run a daily monitoring script which fetches data about all my tasks that have completed and are [still] visible. The original purpose was to do my own credit watch at the workunit level, but a useful current side-effect is that I can do a daily analysis of whether any tasks have been assimilated or purged[*1]... I do this check every day,I've not seen a single task disappear (assimilated and fully purged) since mid-November. However, for the first time I have now seen evidence of tasks actually transitioning to file delete state 2, which means they have been assimilated and the data files cleared out so the WUs can be purged. As some of the results in question seem to have gone through assimilation and file removal just before mid-day (UTC) on 2024-01-04, I hope some of them will actually disappear later today! Of course, the above is trusting that the data I'm picking up is an accurate reflection of what's in the database :-) I'll come back to this when I've finished processing the latest feed; I just thought it might be worth marking the apparent change as soon as I spotted it! Cheers - Al. *1 The collection task uses the old API, which is limited but provides slightly more information about one's own results than the new API that also drives web site displays. As a result, I can see when a result has passed through the assimilator and the file deletion process. |
