This error started showing up in the event log after I reinstalled BOINC. Is it something I need to worry about? Can anybody give me some guidance, here?

Always let us know what version of BOINC you are running and what operating system is concerned with a question like that.
The tag you are referring to is described in the manual page for cc_config.xml. I tried adding this tag on a Linux system with boinc-client-7.20.2-4.fc38.x86_64. As soon as the config file was re-read, my Event Log displayed: Thu 19 Oct 2023 14:36:43 | World Community Grid | Unknown tag in app_config.xml: no_rdp_check Note that this error message differs from yours. Upon further investigating I found this Reddit page where BOINC 7.22.2 Release is mentioned where they (and I quote): add a cc_config.xml option <no_rdp_check>. for the client, Win So, my guess is that you're running an older version. I am running the version that I downloaded from the link on the Krembill(?) web page, 7.16.11. Thanks for the head's up; I'll find a more current client.

You can always find the latest version of the BOINC client at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/. v7.24.1 is the most current Windows client version.
