Re: Where's the Work?

I haven't received any work on any of my machines for about 1.5 days. Obviously other people are receiving work as the stats show there is 200 years of work being done each day (down from 300 years a couple of weeks ago). Guess I'll keep waiting.

Re: Where's the Work?

The stats on this site show how many WUs are returned. If people have big caches, then we won't see much of a change right away.

I too haven't gotten any MCM in a while.

Re: Where's the Work?

My systems, none of them particularly large[*1], don't seem to have problems getting work, even at present; for sure, it sometimes takes several requests before a completed task is replaced, but my systems tend not to run out of work! I run caches of under half a day and limit the total numbers of WCG tasks via device profiles; if I get the balance right there's always enough work to keep my target number of threads busy.

The disadvantage of that set-up is that if there's a problem server-side I don't have spare WCG work to tide me over; if that happens I just boost my other current projects and/or enable a fallback project.

Cheers - Al.

*1 A Ryzen 3700X, a Ryzen 5600H and an Intel i7-7700 -- no 32+ core monsters here :-) There's also a laptop but it's my "daily driver" so it only runs one WCG task and I don't worry too much if it runs out!

Re: Where's the Work?

The work fetch has been a bit spotty today. For the moment my queues are full, but during the course of the day they have had only a few work units running, but at least they have not run out.

Cheers

Re: Where's the Work?

No problems getting MCM work here.

I'm running default settings and a 2-day cache on my three Dell machines (24/7).

i5-4590 (Optiplex 7020), i5-3330 (Inspiron 660) and i7-2600 (Optiplex 990).
All of them have 8 GB RAM, SSDs and Windows 10.

The i7-2600 gets switched to Ubuntu when there is SCC work.

MCM supply is at best intermittent.

Re: Where's the Work?

If there just weren't any more workunits available, it'd be a bit annoying. But so far, the project management hasn't even said they're looking in to what's happening while it's been mentioned here days before friday. That is maddening. There was a flurry of posts from the project this week, but nothing about the disappearing workunits.

Not here. I'm getting enough work to keep my machines busy.

Supply is much different from not going dry. I suspect everyone having problems getting work are not using default settings and a higher cache size. The key is asking for work on a frequent basis. My cache size is set to 2 days. I usually only have 12 hours of work in the queue.

I've noticed no more than 20 work units are downloaded at one time. This has been happening since the restart.
