Re: Where's the Work?

My dual xeon linux workstation ran out yesterday evening and has been getting nothing all day despite multiple updates, detach/attach, nothing. It's been limping along for days now, never getting more than 100 in the queue. Strangely enough, two other linux workstations have full queues and have never dipped below 900.

Re: Where's the Work?

It would seem that there is a shortage of units available which seems to be affecting all platforms. Supply seems to be intermittent.

My 3 machines have enough for the threads available but not a full cache. 2 are Windows and 1 Android.

Check your settings and profiles on the machine which is not getting an adequate number of work units. My 3 Linux systems are all staying full.

Re: Where's the Work?

Don't have problems getting MCM1 WUs either, though at times it "seems" like the supply stopped, only to get a larger batch an hour later. None of the hosts is in danger of running ow or even out.
Only OPNG seems to be coming in sparingly, with a host that would be able to crunch 100 of them a day getting something in the order of 2 (two), while some low end GPU host got about 20 around the same time. That's out of 7 GPU capable hosts...

The only issue is that the MCM1 WUs just keep piling up, it's +21,000 for me now, and I really hope that WCG Towers comes up with a solution for the now weeks long failure to purge those validated WUs doesn't end up in yet another "big bang"... sad

It's a dedicated server, and it's asking quite often, and just getting almost nothing:

Other than work_buf_additional_days 3.0 the config is the default & this config ran fine until say 3 weeks ago, so I doubt it's the config.

Re: Where's the Work?

It looks like it is just "luck of the draw." However fast they are loading the feeders looks like just about how fast the requests for new work units are coming in. If your request just happens to catch the feeder after it has been filled, you are getting some, otherwise the feeder is empty and you get zero. You may want to increase the work buffer a day and see if it it makes any difference once you have built up a bit of a backlog.

Cheers

Re: Where's the Work?

I got one OPNG unit today on my Windows box with a GPU. I have received no other WUs since November 22, for Windows or Linux.

Edit: After a couple of clicks on Update on my Linux machine, I have received 5 MCM WUs. Yay! :)

Re: Where's the Work?

I have a 96 core Genoa, 3 64 core Genoa, 8 7950x and one 32 core Rome. I am at about 5% total capacity, and all machines are asking many times a day. The system is broken. I am about to give up and find another medical project to contribute to,

Re: Where's the Work?

One can always set a backup project. You don't have to leave. ARP hope to have their project sending out WUs before the end of the year, and that will hopefully mean all of us will have enough WUs to keep our machines busy. Boinc is easy to configure for low priority backup projects though, so if you have spare cycles at the moment, feel free to share with another project.
