For several weeks, the number of workunits with a Result in "Waiting to be sent" status grows in my Results list. None seem to get out of that status. There are now nearly 200 workunits with that condition aging in my Results list. I am running Darwin 17.7.0 (MacOS 10.13.6 High Sierra). The oldest 60 workunits in my Results are listed below. Perhaps they can provide some insight to the SCC team about stuck workunits. Judging by the lack of new work and the number of "Tasks are committed to other platforms" messages I'm seeing at the moment, it might finally be getting round to clearing the backlog of retries.
Unfortunately, because of the "other platforms" barrier it may take longer to send out any given thousand retries than it does to issue the same number of new tasks -- we need to be patient regarding fewer tasks being available whilst the retries clear (even though that means sending out more new SCC1 work might be counterproductive at present...) Of course, if they undo whatever it is that has caused high numbers of SCC1 retries to stall recently[1] and/or if some users stopped loading so much work that lots of tasks miss deadlines[2]... :-) Cheers - Al. [1] The stalling problem appeared to start after action was taken to mitigate the "out of work over the weekend" problem for SCC1 [2] Not going to happen, is it :-) -- and the "too much work" issue may not always be because of deliberate user choice anyway... |

Indeed, (only) one of my delayed tasks — that was returned on the 15th of August — has finally found a partner (wingman): workunit 351588138 SCC1_0004204_MyoD1-C_24999_0 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-08-10T20:14:25 2023-08-15T07:45:22(and then it didn't take long for both to turn Valid.) I have three work units with a wingman in 'Waiting to be sent' status. My guess is they were manually stopped during the last outage.

I'm getting only SCC resends at the moment. My "waiting to be sent" link earlier in this thread has been sent out and returned.
I still have more in the "waiting to be sent" queue, but I'm hopefully now that my oldest one has now been sent. |
