Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

The stats for the project say 800k - 900k WUs per day. It seems pretty consistent. It has gone over 1000k in the past, but not by much.

I'm going to guess that one project isn't enough to feed us all, and that the longer queues that some have causes some flow issues.

MCM isn't one of my favorite projects, so I've got a 0 length queue, and I'm getting all I need at the moment. If everyone shortened their queue (2 days maybe) and put a machine or two on a backup project, then we could all have some, but that won't happen. But that is easy for me to say. I don't think I'd be nice about it if it was my favorite project, as there are badges to earn :-)

My Windows machine is getting the correct supply, but my Linux systems are only getting about 70% to 80%. From my Linux systems the work units had been running in the low 3 hours in the recent past, but are now running in the 6 hour range. The Windows system is still running 1.5 to 2 hours. (MCM)

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

With this low production of OPNG tasks, it's not worth it for me to start my main GPU cruncher. I will only run my old ASUS G75VW ROG Laptop, with a Nvidia GTX660M on the few OPNG tasks it will get, and nothing on the CPU. I'm not prepared to waste more of the very expensive electricity than that. That's the only BOINC computer running, for now.

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

We now have a new SCC1 target (KLF15).

This is a smaller receptor than FLI1 was, so the range of run times is likely to be lower on any given host.

Cheers - Al.

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

I'm getting new SCC WUs !!!
MCM seems to be flowing well, and we got a research update in the News section of the forum.
OPNG seems to be going out too. I think there are just a few of these though.

Thanks Grumpy and Al for the updates.

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

As some of you may have noticed already, we have another new target for SCC1 -- brachyury.

It has about 3 times as many atoms as KLF-15 (which makes it similar to the MyoD1 targets) and early indications are that it will take quite a lot longer to run tasks for any particular ligand size than recent tasks (again, similar to MyoD1 tasks...).

Cheers - Al.

I am not seeing a big increase in time from these new units. Most of them finish in under an hour with a smattering of them a bit over an hour. Just doing a bit of back of the envelope figuring they may be taking about 10% to 15% more time.

Edit: Now that I have a bigger data set to look at, on average, brachyury work units are about 1.5 times longer than than the KLF-15 work units. This reflects about 100 barchyury work units and about 1700 KLF - 15 work units across several machines.
Cheers

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

Thank you Al and Joe for the analysis,
I was seeing the different times, and wondering what was up.

I'm glad to see a steady flow of SCC. Maybe I'll reach my 180 day badge soon. I will acknowledge that there is a possible issue reported in another thread about a group of "bad" machines that might cause a big wave of resends soon, and none of us really know how well the system will handle it.

Re: Daily WorkUnit Flow Information

I don't know anything about a bad batch of machines nor have I seen more than a couple of resends, but I do have over 3500 work units in pending validation and verification status. The oldest ones are from Sept.15, so I presume they are going through the validator albeit slowly.
Cheers

Sgt. Joe

If 15 Sept is the sent date then you should see re-sends going out today, or waiting to be sent, because of the 6 day deadlines.
