I have a few questions.
1) I assume that there will need to be a new client software made up for a new project. is that right? 2) Will there be any delay between the end of current HPF project and start of a new one? I think it would be better without delays. for the sake of not losing a part of the people involved in this project. And don't you think of building a software that could be used for a broad spectrum of projects that come in the future? maybe that would start a real global free CPU computing time volunteering. I can imagine running grid clients on unused computers (or used, how much of your time by the computer you need more that a fraction of it's possible computing) in schools, net cafes,... , where I think is actually very great unused computing power. but it needs some 'standart', something you can rely on, something you can forget but know that it works for maybe even 10 years. |

When a new project starts up the new client will be automaticly download by the agent you are running on your computer. I think there won't be a delay because the HIV/AIDS project will start at 21 november (i think) and not all HPF batches will be completed before then.

Hello Majo,
The main problem in Windows when a new project starts is that security programs complain about the new program that automatically downloads. Other than that you can probably ignore it. On Linux, when a new project starts, you will have to tell the BOINC Agent to run it. |
