Yeah, this is pretty cool. It mentions a good place to take this device is to an internet cafe. I've never been to an internet cafe. Do those cafe's exist in the U.S. or are they mostly other locations?

I have never been to Starbucks, but I think that they are wired up.

The Starbucks around my neck of the woods are all wired. I've also been testing, for work, the Verizon WI FI card in this laptop. I've only been testing for a few days, but I've been able to crunch and send using it. I'll find a link and post it, when I've a little more time to test it out.

Have a great evening,

Rick

Re: Take your crunching out and about

I went into the Starbucks near the Blockbuster I frequent when renting a movie (finally got around to renting I-Robot with Will Smith) so I could find out if they were wired. They said they have a T-mobile wi-fi hotspot but the customer still needs a subscription with T-mobile in order to take advantage of it. I guess it's a small enticement. When I was in there I didn't see anyone with a laptop. Maybe it hasn't caught on over here in the southwest yet.

Re: Take your crunching out and about

I looked up Starbucks on the Internet at http://www.starbucks.com/retail/wireless.asp
They have a Store Locator to locate stores wired for T-mobile 802.11b. But you do need a T-mobile account.
Added: There is a Free Trial T-mobile Day Pass ad on the Starbucks page.
