Re: World Community Grid complete restart

This morning I got a big batch of resends. Has anyone seen a new WU this morning?

Yes. Literally HUNDREDS of them, spread over multiple machines.

See this screenshot for example: https://ibb.co/47BMd5S

All are _0 and _1, so no resends (a few of the OPNG ARE resends though, but most of them are also new ones).

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Good info! I've started getting wu's on my machines again now. Not all of them however, and there isn't much wait log either. But it seems to be getting there it seems! Chop chop! Can't keep the 84 CPU threads dry over here! ;)

Getting to grips with such a complicated system as this, some bugs and weird shenanigans are to be expected. I think the staff are doing an excellent job! smile

All of those WUs started to come in well after Sgt.Joe had send his message.

The problem right now (at least on my end) is that Cyclops is still playing stupid moderation games which result in messages not showing up in the forum in a timely fashion...

I've had a steady stream of WUs over the last few days, MCM,SCC and OPNG all about 50% new units and 50% non-new. Never been anywhere near the point of running out.
Lucky you. I have pretty much all of the dozen or so hosts here in the office running on empty this morning, maybe with one or two WUs still finishing off. It took at least 'til 8:30am PST that someone in Toronto seems to have kicked the tires to make things being send out on their end again.

For sure, the whole WCG system is still far from being ready for prime time as now proclaimed for at least the third time since last summer... sad

Sgt.Joe:
Some on Windows, nothing on Linux.

Although I only have Linux machines (and an Android), I almost had a similar experience, Sgt.

(All times in UTC.)
From 2023-05-02T15:15, while I was getting all kinds of tasks on one machine, on another machine all of a sudden all I got was OPNG-tasks there. This lasted till 2023-05-04T03:46, when the other machine started getting a few SCC1-tasks again.

So perhaps a careful assumption could be, that hadn't it been for OPNG-tasks, then that other machine wouldn't have gotten anything during that time!

BTW, that other machine only has a wired connection, and I hadn't checked on it for a few days, so today I finally did and what did I see? The wired connection was 'rattling', one moment the connection was established and the next moment it was lost again, and connected, and lost, etc. So I wiggled a bit with the internet cable and now one could say it is stable again. biggrin Yeah, the wire is a bit rotten, close to the connector, and I can see it has been 'repaired' with some duct tape. It works, sort of ... I guess.

Adri:
I have an adequate supply on my windows machine, but I have yet to see any at all on the Linux machines. I did see that Denis@home had some task available, so I loaded up 2 of the Linux machines with some of those which should be good for about 24 hours or so. Then I will see if WCG has any for Linux. At least they will be doing something useful.
Cheers

I have yet to see any at all on the Linux machines.

That is weird. Very weird.

Last night I decided to go to bed after setting the number of MCM1-tasks to unlimited. Six hours later the machine was overloaded with 1031 of them:
MCM1 _#_:1031 [_0_:584 _1_:447] …

I had hoped it would have lasted a little longer. biggrin

I sure wish I could help you with some advice, but like Bonnie Tyler sang, "I don't know what to do, I'm always in the dark".

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Just checked two of my Linux systems -- 838 WUs on one, 546 on another, 672 on a third, 662 on a 4th. A bit lower than normal, but a pretty good supply for all.

I will just wait and see what happens when the Denis@Home units run out and report back.
