My oldest valid result

Before the big disk crash of March 2023, a bunch of us could see that our valid results weren't being removed from the database in a timely manner. In this now time of recovery (April 2023), we can see that some progress has been made, but there is still an issue with valid results not being removed from the list. We really haven't gotten an answer about this issue, so I don't know what the problem is, or why this is happening.

I'm curious how far back this goes. With all us of submitting valid results recently there will be a big Input into the db of valid results, and I'm not sure how the lack of proper cleaning of old valid results will impact the situation.

My oldest valid (looking at the latest time validating result was returned) is, 2023-02-11 06:56:43 UTC https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/263300058

anyone have an older one??

Re: My oldest valid result

This is my oldest vailid result, still not being purged. Returned by me on 2023-02-08 05:04:22 UTC, and returned by the wingman on 2023-02-13 04:37:06 UTC.
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/261750582

Edit: I hope that these not purged results, at least are sent back to the scientists, when they are validated. If the lack of purging also means that the results are not sent back to the scientists, then that is a bigger problem.

Re: My oldest valid result

One more to mention, my oldest valid one:
workunit 260901246
MCM1_0196071_2255_0  Fedora Linux  Valid  2023-02-06T15:38:49  2023-02-06T21:34:55    1.22/1.23      70.3/76.1
MCM1_0196071_2255_1 CentOS Linux Valid 2023-02-06T15:38:27 2023-02-09T02:54:05 3.89/3.91 81.8/76.1

The ModTime of the workunit, according to the API, is 1675954190:
$ wcglog -xe MCM1_0196071_2255_0 -W@ | cut -c1-110
App CpuTime Elapsed Claimed Granted ModTime Exit Outc SentTime ReceivedTime WorkunitId
mcm1 1.22 1.23 70.3 76.1 1675954190 0 1 2023-02-06T15:38:49 2023-02-06T21:34:55 260901246

Convert the ModTime value to UTC, Coordinated Universal Time:
$ date -d@1675954190
Thu 9 Feb 15:49:50 CET 2023

So the workunit was already validated on 9 February.

well, anyway, I checked a few others and the earliest ones I could find for wingmen was Feb 8th of 3778 valid items needed for assimilation. [Resistance is futile]
Ok, ok. so I have officially "lost it!"

Re: My oldest valid result

Good News. Many of my valids have gone from my list. My oldest is now this one for Feb 19 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/267478050
I'm sorry someone is working on this issue on the holiday weekend, but also grateful to see the positive results.
Hopefully this will help fix the slow upload no download issues we are having at the moment. It could also be the why. If the system is handling this backlog of db cleaning, then maybe that is why it is so slow in doing other things.

The fact that the validator is running behind has been reported since about the first week of February, at least 3 weeks before the crash, with barely an acknowledgement that there indeed is a problem. But on the restart after the hardware issues had been fixed, it was once again rather prematurely declared that this would be solved shortly...

Deja vu...

True, nett harm to me is that some of my credits came in 5 days later than they should have.

Over at CPDN some of my credits are 5 months late coming in and even when I was averaging 10,000 credits a day my RAC was zero - no hassle, work is being done and science is progressing.
