Windows 10 Home puts OPNG tasks in "ECO" mode on laptop

I finally found out why I have so many troubles with OPNG tasks being suspended.

Friggin Windows 10 (19045.2604) aka Version 22H2 puts OPNG tasks in ECO-mode (green leaf in Task Manager) on my laptop.

Tried any "solution" found on the web to no avail. Stupid Win10 keeps on putting OPNG tasks (or processes) in suspended "ECO"-mode.

The only thing that works (to keep an OPNG task running) is to suspend and resume the task in the Boinc Manager.

Tried with Boinc Manager version 7.16.11 and 7.20.2, same problem...

Anyone with a solution?

Check if this helps you, it should be possible to disable eco mode in the task manager:

Working ATM so unable to verify.

Check START -> SETTINGS -> power&sleep.
Make verify that you are in advanced settings and computer & monitor don’t go into SLEEP mode. THERE IS AN ECO MODE AVAILABLE AT THAT POINT - I believe it is set by default.
You may need to check monitor settings: sleep and screen saver as well.
Also check your profile for related power and sleep modes.
Good luck!

Hi bfmorse, no need to shout out the ECO-mode since there isn't any ;-)

FYI: Nooit = Never and "Turbo", oh well...no need to explain that right?

I am running Windows 10/22H2 on my programming laptop, which is happily crunching OPNG tasks and there isn't any ECO mode to find anywhere. And no problems running OPNG tasks either, it is in fact my most effective crunching host of all...

So if you don't see any setting for that ECO mode, how do you know that it is IN ECO mode?

EDIT:
Never mind my question, but did a bit of research and it looks like this is a feature that hasn't been rolled out to the "regular" update channels, but only for people/machines that are subscribed to the Windows Insider release channel. And that would be the place to ask for help with that if the mentioned options in the task manager don't show up for you. This is nothing that is under the control of any application, like the BOINC manager...

Ralf

Re: Windows 10 Home puts OPNG tasks in "ECO" mode on laptop

Hi Ralf, I'm not on the "Windows Insider release channel".

I did install the latest Preview Update (KB5022906) and the Powertoys for Win10 (I would recommend Powertoys for any of us since it has some nice features) that includes the "Powertoys Awake" and...nope...
Windows is still putting some (but not all???) OPNG tasks in ECO-mode.

For those questioning my abilities, I'm a certified System Engineer since 2002 and I do know my stuff.

Seems to me I need to reinstall Windows 10 and try to avoid any ECO-mode updates...

Peace!
