My Intel i3 and AMD E1 are set,
RAM is not a threat, But video cards with OpenCL, I regret, They work for hours, then off they get. Electricity's out for hours two or three, In December more, it's plain to see, But then they turn back on, you'll agree, This cycle lasts the whole day, can't you see? So now I ask, are these nodes of mine, Useful in some way? Can they calculate and shine, For the benefit of our community divine? Thank you, and have a good time. під час формування цього тексту не були використані краплі для очей. ![]() |

"Can you calculate something? If the configurations mentioned above work three hours every three hours at best throughout the day. The lights are turned off outside. That's the current power supply mode."
P.S. This is not an overheating problem. This is how electricity is supplied. |

The original question was written as a poem so I imagined it was not serious and this thread was for amusement only. So I answered gibberish thoughts and translated to Ukrainian like the other replies.
Seem like this is a real question and I still wonder. Sounds like how power is delivered in Ukraine as reported in the media. So I presume Ukraine. So now I ask, are these nodes of mine, So my answer is NO. Given my assumptions above then let the community divine use it for more important things than a connection to WCG.Useful in some way? Can they calculate and shine, For the benefit of our community divine? ...let me see if I can think of a more important thing..... Ah yes! How about heat. |

"This was a completely serious question in a rhyming form:
----------------------------------------The essence of it: Do my computers count for nothing? If the power supply graph is three hours off by three. With power in Ukraine now everything is fine. Russia with its missiles, drones, live force, other weapons, destroys infrastructure, people. Bobbi, in any case, thank you for the answer." P.S. "Then everything I counted on is for nothing? I have another question. What should be the minimum configuration of a computer for WCG to benefit from it? Did I understand correctly? Can I pause WCG until there is full-time electricity?" If you return your results in time (you can check that on your results page), than yes, your work is useful and your computers are not counting for nothing. In general it's not necessary to run a computer 24/7, that was never the original idea behind distributed computing, my ancient C2D runs just about 10 hours a day when I use it and gets about 6 MCM WUs done in that time.

Computers running WCG are electric heaters with a data byproduct.
May your family and your country survive and thrive. Long live the Ukraine! |

Firstly kudos for writing the question as a poem. It fooled me.
I think everyone is missing the point here. He's in a war zone where power is precious, rare, and sporatic. Let me make a cruel suggestion here. Let's put the question the the leader of the country. Show him this thread and ask "Is it an appropiate use of a precious resource to do some community computing while others have an essential need for that same resource to heat, cook, wash, and keep their phones charged in order to communicate with authorities, family, and friends??" So tkw2019@outlook.com, you want to do something "For the benefit of our community divine" then donate that power to the benefit of the community divine by not using it for non essential things like WCG. Computers running WCG are electric heaters with a data byproduct. It may be true but they are not efficient at it. I have four running 24/7 and they may move the temperature from 70 to 71 F (21.1 to 21.6 C)It's really the reverse: data product with a heat byproduct. So in a house at 50 F (10 C), 51 (10.6 C) it not much better. Lastly, put yourself in that position. When the power does come back for 3 hours, would your first thought be turning on a PC for the benefit of BOINC computing? Priorities! |
