The transition has been more problematic than I could have imagined, and I was frustrated along with many others.
----------------------------------------The system seems to be running reliably now and work units are completing as they should. Thanks to all at Krembil for your persistence and hard work in getting all of us this far. I know it has been a huge undertaking and I have no clue about all that is involved. Moving forward, I hope and trust that the World Community Grid has many more years of successful research ahead. Thanks Krembil! ![]() |

Thanks Krembil! Thanks, I shared this with the rest of the team! We still have some distance to go, but we are grateful for your positivity. Hopefully we'll have some good news to share with everyone soon. |

Thank you Nortnarg - much appreciated.
it is indeed taking us much longer than we ever anticipated, and we ran into so many issues we did not expect either - but - the whole team is dedicated to WCG success, and we are truly "itching" to finalize the setup, so we can start expanding the projects. So many things are "waiting" for the full restart - but we have to take it sequentially. We highly appreciate our dedicated volunteers and partners - together, we will succeed. Thank you igor |

I concur with Nortnarg, thank you for not giving up! I want WCG to live on and I am happy to see that we are now getting a steady stream if WUs (OPNG missing lately though, but I'm sure there is a good explanation for that).
----------------------------------------It is great to see people active on the forums, posting progress updates for OPN1 and OPNG. I create and update graphs there because I think it is fun and because it might keep people going, seeing some progress even in this problematic alpha stage of WCG restart. I can understand that some people get upset, but keep posting short (or long, if you find the time) updates frequently on the forums and I believe many will find the patience and motivation to continue, and hopefully lower the levels of skepticism a bit. Personally, a year of restart, with alpha-restart and all the issues we've been though along the road so far...that is not enough to rock my boat. I sit where I sat before the move from IBM - confident that you will solve all the issues and that you are doing your best with the resources at hand. Don't be discouraged by the posts of disappointment. Constructive criticism is one thing, but when it turns into pure negativity is does not really achieve a whole lot. So, have a nice weekend, thank you for your hard work, and remember that there are many who understand, stay positive and confident in your team and your efforts! ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

Its been a long road and we are not there yet. So, I agree with Nortnarg and I do thank Krembil for sticking it out through all the trials and tribulations, but it is certainly sometimes frustrating from a volunteer standpoint. If I did not believe in the projects, I would be gone, but I still want to be a part of a solution.
----------------------------------------Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Cheers

Thank you Kremil ! I know it hasn't been easy, but thanks for sticking with it. I look forward to more projects being available.

I also thought that things were going much better these last few weeks. I did not want to say anything in case I jinxed it.

So then, It's official. We're back as Arnold said.
I still think IBM should have turned over a turnkey system. |

I wouldn't say "we're back". There are only 2 projects running at the moment. I'm assuming that ARP causes the download issues (I could be wrong), and things could be nice (no download errors) only because ARP isn't running at the moment.
I'd say it is time to celebrate the progress that has been made and to feel confident in tackling the problems that still remain. We need to be kind to those doing this work to continue the support of the projects we like. When they do finally decide to "flip the switch" and update the database and restart streaks, things will hopefully go well, but if they don't, then we need to be supportive and remember that while stats are encouraging and fun, we are here for the science. |
