[Calculation] "Points Earned" versus BOINC "Credits"?

I tried to find this on the forum, but when I searched there was 61K results returned shock

Q: I'm an Engineer, so deal with straight-forward answers. I've been computing for WCG for 2+ years -- what is the *direct* calculation between WCG "Points Earned" versus what our BOINC Manager Client reports as "Credits"?

With all the repeated up/down/can't find the system/website crash/etc, I don't trust what I'm seeing in 'My Contribution' so want to get the HP Calculator out and calculate my scientific contribution.

I'm weighing the (very) excessive heat + energy costs I'm incurring versus the Science + Do-Good for Humanity my (8) Systems are doing for World Community Grid.currently.

Any "X+Y^z" formulae to compute this is *greatly* appreciated...

Re: [Calculation] "Points Earned" versus BOINC "Credits"?

There is a Help section at the bottom of every page here. The search function (in the Help section) doesn't function though currently.
But ... after arriving at the Help section and taking a quick look, you'll see the 'Points' link soon enough, under "Overview".

There is this link, "Why are points on the agent and the web different?" and (a part of) the answer reads:
"BOINC points are multiplied by 7 when they are imported into the website. Thus if you earned 5 BOINC points, you will see 35 website points."

Adri cool

PS "BOINC points" are also called "Credit" here: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/results

Re: [Calculation] "Points Earned" versus BOINC "Credits"?

But be aware of that the WCG points since the migration, is not synced with the BOINC credit.

For example, at the moment I have 20,146,774 BOINC credits. Take that x7, and I should have 141,027,418 WCG points. However as of now, my overview page, only shows 112,646,678 WCG points earned. So, until the WCG DB is synced with the BOINC DB, you can't trust the WCG stats data at all.

Re: [Calculation] "Points Earned" versus BOINC "Credits"?

The forum has been down quite a bit the past couple days so I couldn't see your responses until now, but I wanted to say THANK YOU both very much!!

* x7 is the calculation, and
* The stats aren't yet up-to-date

I have two more systems to bring online but were holding-off on them until I could figure-out if my efforts were being registered, and whether the additional heat in this room could be withstood. This will allow me to do an estimate of those efforts (knowing that the Stats aren't updated but twice/day).

I appreciate your help!
