Krembil may not think there is a problem with slow downloads, but I have more to do than sit at my computer continuously pressing "Retry now" in my retirement. Here is a token of my frustration.

Than either set up a backup project which kicks in in case one of your cores becomes idle due to the download issues or (and this is what I did) switch completely to a different project until Krembil get this thing running properly.  |

More and more people are getting sick of this problem and Krembil are still denying and ignoring it.
----------------------------------------There is simply nowhere near the required network capacity to handle the required data. Not enough bandwidth on the connection Not enough available sockets to connect to Servers cancel connections shortly after downloads start Even downloads that do run are running at far below optimum or even reasonable speeds. Hey "Social Media Intern", instead was wasting time moderating people that are blocked on fraudulent grounds, take the message to the network techs. The users, the ones that DO the work, are NOT happy!  Currently being moderated under false pretences |

The problem was never fixed, they were just sending out less WUs, so it wasn't visible. As soon as they get closer to regular load, the issues come back as their current hardware configuration can't handle that amout of concurrent downloads.

Than either set up a backup project which kicks in in case one of your cores becomes idle due to the download issues or (and this is what I did) switch completely to a different project until Krembil get this thing running properly. I would prefer to dedicate my time to my chosen projects but concur that a temporary fallback project would be a temporary fix. However, I wonder if the fallback would ever start because of the 'Download pending/project backoff' status of the 'stuck' files which can cause unattended machines to sit idle for days.  Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |

Other projects do not stall whren WCG downloads stall.
----------------------------------------Try Rosetta, SiDock (and DENIS when it returns shortly), all have medical tasks. Timed commands to retry have been posted several times, I use wcgresults on Linux. Paul.

However, I wonder if the fallback would ever start because of the 'Download pending/project backoff' status of the 'stuck' files which can cause unattended machines to sit idle for days. The BOINC client defaults are you can download up to 8 files at the same time but you're limited to 2 files/project. Meaning, with these defaults you can freely download files from 4 different BOINC projects at the same time, with only limitation the downloads can decrease available bandwidth for the other downloads. Uploads have the same limits but are counted separately from downloads.  "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

Finally had enough of babysitting WCG downloads and have set it to "No new tasks". I may back when Krembil get their act together. Giving my time to other projects in the meantime.
