BOINC Version 7.20.2

I am seeing messages in my client log suggesting that I upgrade to Boinc version 7.20.2. Should I do that?

Cheers coffee

Re: BOINC Version 7.20.2

I've been using it since it came out in late July.
Windows 10. No issues.

Re: BOINC Version 7.20.2

NixChix,
Which version are you running now?

I have been running 7.20.2 since 8 August and didn't go back to a previous version:
$ rpm -qi boinc-client
Name : boinc-client
Version : 7.20.2
Release : 1.fc35
Architecture: x86_64
Install Date: Mon 08 Aug 2022 19:44:32 CEST

PS Did you know that your signature shows "Invalid Id" in a BoincStats frame? At least, that's what I see.

I have been running 7.16.11 on 2 computers and 7.16.20 on 2 others. Time to upgrade I guess.

Yes, I have seen the empty BoincStats frame. I don't know what went wrong. I have been too busy/lazy/tired to check it out.

Cheers coffee

Re: BOINC Version 7.20.2

Why upgrade? If nothing is broken why fix it?

My machines just run WCG (and TnGrid for now) so, until they stop working or LTS runs out the clock, I fix nothing.

This is not entirely true. I wanted to see what Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS looked like and updated this one machine. It updated Boinc to 7.18.1 by itself.

As a matter of fact I turned off auto updates.

If you use your machine daily to surf etc, etc, etc, then indeed keep everything up-to-date.

Now if you tell me the new Boinc will make the WUs run 2x faster then.....

Re: BOINC Version 7.20.2

Been using 7.20.2 since August on Windows 11 with no problems. The release notes are here if you want to check the differences: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Release_Notes
