This is very disappointing indeed...
Me too thought "oh great, they finally solved the files transfer issues!" but nope, the same thing continues... I'm off from this project now. I'll give my CPU work to F@H instead.... Bye Bye WCG! |

Not sure why the "World Community Grid is officially restarting BOINC" e-mail was sent out on a Saturday afternoon, since it kind of obligates WCG staff to work the entire weekend. Yeah, that email was a serious slap in the face of all volunteers when at that point the whole download error saga was again in full swing, shortly followed by a complete cluster **** (pun intended) of the web site and forum crapping out. On top of this, when I discovered that the web site was down at the same time I got that email (we did an office remodel this weekend, so I was barely at a computer), I also saw "Comical Igor" (the Russian cousin of Comical Ali) on the news, I was wondering if he's also doing the PR for Krembil now...I'm getting transient HTTP errors and 100-250 KB/sec download speeds for single MCM1 tasks. There's no way in hell we're back in Production, so it's kind of dumb to blast out an e-mail to the entire WCG population. This whole system now came back online (haven't had time to check the downloads yet) about an hour or so after they posted a message on Twitter that they were going to fix an issue. I think they need to realize that things can happen at any time, even (or according to Murphy's law, specially) on weekends and a faster response time that +60h would be highly appreciated. After everything started to work more or less smoothly early last week, I was seriously hopeful that we are finally moving in the right direction. But now I am probably even more worried that this will become rather a reoccurring issue and also them mentioning that they would be slowly restoring the missing stats since June might turn into a rather bumpy ride... Ralf PS: And no, the download issues are still going on strong. |

PS: And no, the download issues are still going on strong. The download issues seem to have cleared. Possibly because I'm getting no new tasks to download... |

I am currently downloading tasks at less than 70KBps. I cannot get tasks fast enough to fully utilize 20 threads and one video card.

In the eMail from Saturday it was said that the daily results are being reflected.
In fact, this worked well for exactly 3 days: Sept. 29, 30, and Oct. 1st. For Oct. 2nd exactly 1 returned result is shown, while I had definitely crunched a few hundred on 4 machines. And October 3rd is not even contained in the list. Also on Oct. 3rd (= today) I have processed a few hundred tasks so far. So all in all, everything keeps being a big disappointment. One would think once they send out such an eMail to each member, they had tested beforehand things which they are promising in that eMail. However, this does not seem to be the case. By now, I am pretty much fed up by WCG - they are making promises over promises, but they don't keep them |

erich56,
From your post I understand that you have missed something - the website was down during a fair bit of the weekend and up until Monday at about 15:30 UTC. Only up- and downloads (maybe more) were enabled during that downtime. In any case, I guess it wasn't possible to update the statistics during that time, so they are absent. |

Yes, the so-called "History" page (https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/history) is showing incomplete results. I would not necessarily assume though that just because the website was down, also the results count did not work. And even if there should be such a connex, it's awful enough that on Saturday they sent out an eMail to everybody telling that this History page is now working, and a day later it does NOT work. Bad indeed |
