I just tried running 50% of my CPUs at 100%... most (all but 2 tasks) are still resetting to zero. :-(
This is really aggravating! Since this is only happening on MCM tasks, I'm thinking this is a problem with the MCM WU's (on mac).. are we in agreement on that? |

There is definitely some kind of problem with MCM1-tasks on Mac(books), if you ask me, as we've not seen a real solution (yet), I guess. If there is a real solution, please let them speak up. |

I'm on an Intel 2018 macbook pro.
UPDATE: I now have most MCM tasks running OK... just 2 are resetting to zero. I just had an OS update, but this update applies to situation before the OS update this morning. I just aborted those 2 tasks that were looping... we'll see what happens with the tasks that replace them... |

Just an update... last day or two all MCM tasks that come in are resetting to zero... ugh.
Is there a way to have my mac run only non-MCM WCG projects, but my Windows machines run only MCM? (I do see how to set it for ALL of my machines, but not how to do it selectively.) Thanks |

Yes, set them up to be in different profiles (one Home, one Work) and select which of those projects should be processed in each profiile...Is there a way to have my mac run only non-MCM WCG projects, but my Windows machines run only MCM? I've been seeing MCM tasks resetting to zero as well. I tried completely uninstalling BOINC and all associated data and re-installing, problem still occurs occasionally. Never noticed this problem until recently, and I have been running MCM for a loooong time.
Running Monterey on a 2018 vintage i7-based Mac. The peculiar thing is that I saw the earlier comments about running CPU benchmarks so decided to try it for yucks. The times for the resetting jobs immediately jumped to multiple minutes after the benchmarks ran and the MCM jobs don't seem to be resetting now. NOTE: it's only been a few minutes, but they all have over 10 minutes on them now and they were resetting within a few seconds of 1 minute. Which causes me to wonder whether it's MCM or BOINC. Benchmarks causing the CPU time on each task to jump plausibly indicates a reporting error with BOINC rather than a problem with MCM. It's worth testing whether the jobs complete anyway. Next time this occurs I'm going to pay attention to the job numbers. What I'm wondering is if I ignore them resetting, will the jobs eventually complete? I'm not very optimistic since the first time I noticed this the jobs were all overdue which doesn't square with it "just being a reporting issue". Worth a try though. I'll do two things: 1> watch job numbers and see if they disappear eventually 2> if they do, check my results and see if I'm getting credit for them. I'll report back when I know more, and if others want to try this too that's be interesting information for anyone who wants to try to track it down... |

Update: I recorded the jobs that were resetting and waited patiently. Eventually, they all disappeared from my work queue. I then checked my "results" page and they were properly recorded as "valid" with credit granted.
NOTE: for a while after some jobs disappeared from my work queue I couldn't find them in the results page. I waited a day or two and found them all. I did mention waiting "patiently"... So I'm betting this is all about some glitch in reporting. Whether it's BOINC or MCM I really haven't a clue. It seems annoying but inconsequential. I'll also note that I don't see this problem on an older mac (circa 2015), OTOH I don't check it for weeks at a time... I'll continue to monitor and post anything that contradicts my theory that it's just an annoying glitch in reporting progress... |

May be i must abort them and stay only on Covid tasks, so tired i am with MCM as i long for SCC that's the only reason i am still there . ![]() |
