On a mac 10.15.7, boinc 7.20.2. I have a macbook and mac both struggling to get work downloaded. it often gets a small part of the download and then does a retry in a longer and longer time. I am not able to keep even a days worth of task because it finishes the tasks before being able to download more. Here is a sample log:
----------------------------------------Sat Aug 27 09:01:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] No project chosen for work fetch Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | choose_project(): 1661608958.886606 Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] ------- start work fetch state ------- Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] target work buffer: 259200.00 + 43200.00 sec Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] --- project states --- Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | World Community Grid | [work_fetch] REC 969.424 prio -1.003 can't request work: some download is stalled Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] --- state for CPU --- Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] shortfall 1808499.82 nidle 5.00 saturated 0.00 busy 0.00 Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | World Community Grid | [work_fetch] share 0.000 Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] --- state for NVIDIA GPU --- Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] shortfall 302400.00 nidle 1.00 saturated 0.00 busy 0.00 Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | World Community Grid | [work_fetch] share 0.000 Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] ------- end work fetch state ------- Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | World Community Grid | choose_project: scanning Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | World Community Grid | skip: some download is stalled Sat Aug 27 09:02:38 2022 | | [work_fetch] No project chosen for work fetch I tried to up the number of days work so maybe at night things would improve and get ahead, but I now have one task running... It is not a bandwidth problem on my end, have gigabit. [Edit 1 times, last edit by jspoon at Aug 27, 2022 2:07:34 PM] |

Thanks for the updates that this is an on-going problem. Kind of defeats the whole purpose if we cannot get work... Can we move back to IBM... Anyway, is there any outlook on when this will be resolved? This has to have a huge impact on progress.

On my mac I have requested 3 days of task and have only one task in downloading state that has failed so many times it is over 4 hours before it even tries again. I have tried to update the project several times in hopes of getting more task, but nothing is even being added to the queue to download. So, there is no work being done at all on my Mac. My Macbook has improved and now has 10 tasks.

Things were looking good... I re-linked to the WCG project today and was surprised at the tremendous number of downloads it started trying to send. Then I noticed the rate at which things were coming in at: about 0.05kbps. That's slower that a really bad dial-up connection. The transfer screen has been virtually static for the last 5 or 6 hours now. (Can't insert an image of it unfortunately). Not sure if the servers are so tremendously overloaded that they've ceased functioning or what. I'll just leave it be and see what I see when I check on this machine again tomorrow. (I suspect I may have to cancel all the transfers and wait another week or two for the project to get straightened out... Hopefully!

Hi, I don't know how to do it with a Mac but in linux you can do this :
----------------------------------------the really dirty way is creating a crontask with "/usr/bin/boinccmd --network_available" every 10 or 20sec (no need to run it as root)
My GPU compute WUs as fast as I'm crushing bubble wrap.
