Well guys, I'm sorry that I don't have time to hang around internet forums throughout the working day.
I'm aware we've moved away from IBM to Krembil but the main page said back in June that things were ready to go again. The client reported that the URL had changed so I changed it. Anyway, if it's a case if sitting tight and waiting then so be it. However, it would be a great help if comminications could be delivered via the "messages" tab in the client instead of errnoeous instructions. ;) Gav. |

Well guys, I'm sorry that I don't have time to hang around internet forums throughout the working day. Me neither. Unless I am doing that instead of watching paint dry while doing a Microsoft Exchange server upgrade... ![]() I'm aware we've moved away from IBM to Krembil but the main page said back in June that things were ready to go again. The client reported that the URL had changed so I changed it. Well, that is not what it said. The error message says it "might" have changed.Anyway, if it's a case if sitting tight and waiting then so be it. However, it would be a great help if comminications could be delivered via the "messages" tab in the client instead of errnoeous instructions. ;) Yes, indeed, communication needs to VASTLY improve. Looks like the "communications intern" has been seconded to different tasks and barely posts anything.Gav. That "Messages" tab on the client is rather useless in my experience of running BOINC for more than a decade. As for the "errnoeous instructions", well, that is nothing under the control of WCG/Krembil but a generic message from the BOINC client noticing that something has changed (while the testing is going on). One of the first thing they should have changed weeks ago now is that "Let's get started" news item on the home page, as it seems 98% of the people don't read the whole thing and thus don't understand that it is the web site and the forum ONLY that has been restarted... One simple change that could IMHO have cut down on a lot of noise on the forum, which in turn makes it much easier and faster to notice some real info, without hanging out on the forums all day long... I also followed the directions about the old URL, twice, but saw no change and still got no tasks. Of course not. did it earlier this evening and got no tasks, but a tremendous reaction in my event log, which follows: Of course. If you remove and than add the project again, then it will pull all the non-WU related data, like logo, screensaver, etc all over again. That is what you are seeing and this is one of the reason why the common recommendation is just to ignore the BOINC client message about the URL, as it won't change anything, either way... ![]() Ralf ![]() |

I wonder if some volunteers only have post-only access to the forum.
![]() But why do I post this, since those who need to know it, obviously can't read posts? They can only post the same questions that already been posted a thousand times. ![]() Geeze...... |

I would be curious about the reply. I am amazed also. [Edit 2 times, last edit by BobbyB at Jul 24, 2022 3:02:40 PM] |

I wonder if some volunteers only have post-only access to the forum I don't think so. I know for sure you can have read only access to the forum, but I have never heard of post only access. That would just not make any sense. Cheers

It isn't that they have post-only access, it is that they don't read the posts.
