All the other BOINC projects I've seen have a link in the top row of the home page for Server Status, which makes it easy to, for example, see that the reason you're not getting WUs is because none are available. Where is the WCG Server Status link?
I know you all are busy right now with transition issues. Maybe you could put this on a list of after-the-transition to-dos? Cheers, Ardis |

There is no "Server Status" on WCG, reachable for the user. Never been, probably will never be.

but why is it? I believe I read on a a Boinc page that all projects have a server status. A basic BOINC server uses a software stack comprising Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (the "LAMP" stack)... In such cases, a default server status page is available and easy to deploy. However, some projects that use BOINC clients don't use the standard software stack; in particular, WCG started off on a very different platform (pre-BOINC) and the software stack is still very different (I believe they mentioned WebSphere, for instance). It may actually be non-trivial to implement a satisfactory server status page that integrates well with the existing site. (IBM never managed to provide one, despite the amount of negative feedback it would've eliminated over several years!...) Yes, it would be nice to have some sort of Server/Project status information, but I suspect there's a lot of other higher priority stuff for them to sort out for now :-) Cheers - Al. |
