There! You've said it! That is exactly what I meant! Well Adrian,Again: compare "Points" and "Work done" (times 7): "Work done" (times 7) is much more than "Points" (if you have returned a few valid results in the past week). That's my point. sorry to be so blunt, but you don't have a point. Regardless if I multiple by 7 (or 42,the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything), it doesn't change the fact that NOTHING shows up on the "my Contribution page", Regardless of how much I would care for the points/credits, it doesn't show the number of returned results (and the associated amount of runtime, both values which don't have to be multiplied by anything, not even 42), and THAT is the part that concerns me the most, as that could be an indication that all those test WUs end up being of no other purpose than turning into tiny drops in the eternal bitbucket. ...THAT is the part that concerns me the most, as that could be an indication that all those test WUs end up being of no other purpose than turning into tiny drops in the eternal bitbucket. They were test units. I don't know what variables they were testing for nor if the actual information in the test units should be valid results to be added to already processed research. They could have been testing for new content/length of work or maybe they testing input/output, load balancing, load stress testing or other things. Work units got sent out, processed, and returned. Thus, whatever they were testing for can now be evaluated from the returned units. It would have been nice if they had informed us of the nature of the test, but they didn't. So, for me the answer is: No, I do not think my processing time was wasted. Cheers

So, for me the answer is: No, I do not think my processing time was wasted. Well, for both your and me, any "wasted" runtime (or points, for those that hunt them) is of no relevance, as we are long time crunchers (can't check on your stats while typing, but I do have +100y OPN1 and 85y MCM) and thus my comment about "tiny drops in the eternal bitbucket".Cheers But for a lot of (semi-)noobs, this could mean that they might have lost out on doubling their runtime, for a new batch, or maybe getting their first batch all together. And among those, there seem to be quite a number that might not see it that way and thus drop out. With the overall less than stellar impression that Krembil/WCG made with this migration, this might not be the best advertising and a blemish on their reputation... Ralf |
