We are a small, academic team Maybe, that is your problem. I noticed it, when you were focussing on getting all the different social media channels and the web site ready instead of focussing on providing WUs and the environment to process them as the highest priority. Don't take me wrong, I understand your enthusiasm, but you must have realized that the whole move to Krembil maybe a bite to big to chew for you. You need more experinced IT-minded helper, with BOINC expertise if possible. [Edit 1 times, last edit by GolfSierra at Jun 24, 2022 5:00:47 PM] |

We are a small, academic team. Growing from running MCM to running WCG is challenging - but definitely worth it. We have limited resources, both personnel and hardware. We are continuously working on expanding both, trying to find new sources of funding and support, to ensure WCG can grow, not just survive. Well, I am not sure how well this is going to work. WCG is more than just one scientific project, and it has (had) a lot of people trying to support it by crunching WUs. It seems to me as if by taking over WCG, you have taken a bigger bite than you can chew. Certainly if there is no support by IBM anymore. For an organization like IBM, dealing with the required resources was "small change", which might be very hard for you to pick up. From a sysadmin perspective, as I mention in posts on FB before, it surprised me how long it has taken you to get this far and still don't have the actual "working guts" operational. Really hope that things will improve, Ralf |

Not receiving any new work.
I have a number of older PC that ran WCG fine prior to the move. Now, ever attempt to download work results in a failure. From my event log: Requesting new task for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable. Most of the PC are running Win 7, but one is running Umbuntu 22.04. Same failure on all PCs. Is this just a result of the server being overloaded due to the startup? Of is there something I need to change. As a I said before all these PCs worked fine prior to the move. Thanks Tom Carney wa4qvq@gmail.com |

They are NOT sending out work units yet. They will let you know when they are ready.

They are NOT sending out work units yet. They will let you know when they are ready. How will they let me know? It seems i nust look at the WCG web site, the Facebook, and now these fora under many different headings. I am so far behind in completing WCG work units (since I have not received any in four months or so), that my BOINC will not try to download anything else because it is desperately looking for WCG work units. So I must set WCG to Get No New Tasks in order to get the BOINC client to download anything else. |

It seems i nust look at the WCG web site, the Facebook, and now these fora under many different headings. I'm not sure which of the various categories will get you the relevant notification (probably "Special Announcements" or "System Updates") -- mine is set up to send all categories to "In App Notifications" so as long as they actually post something I'll see it... Hope that helps - Al. [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Jun 26, 2022 2:33:17 AM] |

Select "Profile and settings" from the menu on the Account button (top right of web site screen); this should land you on a page headed "Communications"... OK: I selected most of the items, requested e-mail daily delivery... I will see how it goes. |

Be patient. I have reduced my BOINC projects to just WCG & Milkyway and am automatically getting regular updates to WCG. They are failing now but should work as soon as there are units available.
Then I'll turn off the supply of Milkyway. |
