Questions about the science behind MCM project?

Dear volunteers,
during the two months of shutdown we would like to take the time to answer to some of the questions you might have about the projects (and never thought to ask smile ).

We will collect all you write in the forum in the next few days and, with the collaboration of all the active projects groups, try to answer as many questions as possible.

If they are going to be too many, we will prioritize them by the number of people that “+1” them. What we will not be able to answer during the final phase of the migration, will be answered later on.

Re: Questions about the science behind MCM project?

Are there any plans to optimize this project for a particular operating system Linux/Windows/ Mac OS/Android ? I think the GPU option was answered a while back as being non-applicable.
Cheers

Re: Questions about the science behind MCM project?

Thank you Sgt_Joe

indeed - resources permitting, we do hope to work on optimizing for heterogeneous grid, not just MCM, but any future project.

thank you for your help and contribution

Re: Questions about the science behind MCM project?

From this article:

"Each of Krembil's research pillars require a considerable computational commitment, from identifying novel prognostic or predictive biomarkers to therapeutic targets. One of WCG's programs – Mapping Cancer Markers – identified and validated a diagnostic group of biomarkers for lung cancer, after processing over 9.8 trillion possible biomarkers. Using the various data points identified from the tissue samples and the processing power of WCG, these six markers are now being validated clinically."

Could that be expanded upon on a future update?

Re: Questions about the science behind MCM project?

Are there plans to create a GPU application for MCM, as GPU's are far more powerful than CPU's (see the OPN-project for evidence of this)?

Re: Questions about the science behind MCM project?

Can you please provide a link to the GPU answer, if possible? Thanks!
