Hello, I've been receiving and completing tasks almost constantly for well over a year. Yesterday I just stopped receiving new tasks to run and I've completed all of the tasks. I havent changed any of the settings and my disk says there is plenty of space for the Grid. I have my setting set to run always, always use GPU, and always network connect. I logged onto the world community grid website and made sure all of "my projects" checked all of the boxes for active projects and confirmed my choices.
I have a 75 day streak going and I'd hate to lose it. Any suggestions? Thanks |

The news item WCG Data Transfer Underway, Stress Test of New Infrastructure Scheduled For Feb 28th was posted on Feb 9th on this page:

It just goes to show that the communication about the shutdown doesn't reach everyone...

Judging by the plummeting numbers on WUprop, most did not get the message.

The default settings on the Communications page do not include the System Updates category but do include the Special Announcements category. So the news post from the 9th wouldn't have been received by those using the defaults as it was under "Program News" and "System Updates". They should send out a "Special Announcement" to reach many more members.

With hindsight:
----------------------------------------There should be a banner at the top of every page with something like "We are about to shut down for 2 months, click here for details". There is not even a mention on the home page, and I would not see it anyway, only the forums, stats etc. Even if you click for news the headline shown says "09 Feb 2022 – WCG Data Transfer Underway, Stress Test of New Infrastructure Scheduled For Feb 28th We have started to transfer data for all active WCG projects to the Krembil Research Institute. We are gearing up to start testing the whole system on February 28, 2022. Tags: Event or Milestone , Technical Issue , Website Update ". Which still does not say shutdown, you have to click on that and read on to find out what is happening. Only one weeks notice does not help. A one or two day stoppage of work units a week or so in advance may have helped by driving infrequent visitors to the forums, or at least the website. I believe the staff have put a lot of effort into the migration and wish them well. Much more effort needs to be put into the communications. Paul.

It just goes to show that the communication about the shutdown doesn't reach everyone... Given the number of crunchers who just set and forget, no level of communications will reach everyone - they’ve done their best. |

An email would have helped.
