I just tried to install BOINC version 7.16.19 but an alert stated that it requires macOS 10.9, however, the BOINC website states minimum requirement as "Mac OS X 10.4.0 and later" (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/System_requirements). I'm using a 2012 computer that has macOS 10.8.5. I'll stick with my old macOS and old version of BOINC but could someone please correct the BOINC system requirements?
Thanks. |

Hello,
----------------------------------------7.16.19 is for MacOS 10.9+. So you need to install version 7.16.11 which is for MacOS 10.7 - 10.15. If the BOINC download page doesn't direct you to the correct download, simply go to this page and choose 7.16.11 for MacOS. The wiki is not wrong since the 7.2.42 version that is officially offered does support MacOS 10.4 but maybe it could be expanded to reflect the different BOINC versions that are offered. Currently it states at the bottom of the Mac requirements:
NOTE: Some older hardware or older versions of MacOS require older builds of BOINC. Please see https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php for details. That's similar to the note for Windows. Linux, that's a whole other beast. It doesn't state on the Wiki but the download recommends you retrieve from your distro's repo. |
