It's more like 340 points/day, unless I'm doing something wrong... ?
85 points per task, each task is taking ~24 hours, 4 cores = 4 tasks at once.. equals to 340 points/day. It's RPi3, but if my numbers are correct I doubt the 4 would get anywhere near 7000/day. |

That's funny the other guy said he was getting about 7000. His were Pi4. I'll see if I can find that thread.

Is there a difference? I presumed points (in the overview page) was an accumulation of Granted credit on the results page

Is there a difference? I presumed points (in the overview page) was an accumulation of Granted credit on the results page WCG Points are a hang-over from the pre-BOINC days and are actually 7 times the BOINC credit! So, for instance, an OPN1 task that gets 85 units of credit on the results page earns 595 WCG points towards the scores on the overview page. As others have asked about or cited RPi awards, I'll use my Pi as an example... I have a Pi4 (8GB) clocked at 2GHz on which I run 3 OPN1 tasks at a time; it gets around 850 to 900 units of BOINC Credit per day and if I look at its stats on the overview page it gets around 6000 points a day... Cheers - Al. |

ah yeah, that explains everything.
----------------------------------------I'm referring to credits, which is the thing that I assume shows up in the Results page of WCG website. Around 2380 points/day then... Points: https://imgur.com/a/QMvmCGV Results: https://imgur.com/a/rjEt68R Bobby, how many points do you get from theRyzen 3900X? 13000? Hey Al, how much do you think you'd get if not overclocking? And why do you run 3 tasks at a time, not 4? [Edit 3 times, last edit by roberto_sc at Nov 3, 2021 3:59:18 AM] |

I kinda thought it was that 7x thing but thought it was just on boincstats.com site.
----------------------------------------A big inconsistency here. On the overview they state points in great big letters (92px tall). In "My activity over time" that graph states points (or runtime or results) Here's an idea. Let's fix it so we all speak the same language. A big inconsistency here. On the overview they state points in great big letters (92px tall). In "My activity over time" that graph states points (or runtime or results) That's twice *points* (that's *not* credits in any way, to make myself clear). And the numbers seem right (it's *not* credits in 'My activity over time'). So I'm afraid I'm not understanding your 'big inconsistency here'. Care to explain, Bobby? ![]() |

Hi roberto_sc,
Apart from installing Raspberry OS Lite (I'm using the full version), I don't know what else could be done to increase efficiency, maybe there isn't a way. to get better. There is a very interesting thread on another forum which analyses ways of making the Pi more efficient for crunching. See: https://hardforum.com/threads/distributed-computing-on-raspberry-pi.1997998/ Towards the end of the thread, some measurements are taken to work out how much of an improvement in efficiency (if any) the various possible changes make. I have not myself tried the suggestions in that thread, as I run my Pis overclocked and with active cooling. Note also that the OP in that thread was assuming the use of a Pi 4B, rather than a Pi 3. Cheers, Mark |

So I'm afraid I'm not understanding your 'big inconsistency here'. Care to explain, Bobby? Yes of course. It was NOT aimed at you or about your post but about the site. Yes twice and even 3 or 4+ times if we count the data (CSV) we can download. They all lists points. Then we go to results and it says credits. It's fairly easy to presume these are the points which are accumulated and reported throughout the rest of the site. Right? Wrong! I never took the time to add the credits up and compare. I had read about the 7x thing here and on boincstats but ignored it since I am only on WCG and it reports points. I seem to remember it being Berkley's way of reporting "points" across all projects which use the Boinc client. (not sure) We both speak the same language. The "we" in my post above was about "we the users" and the site. |
