Wrongly assuming that the notice was maybe related to the Let's Encrypt issue, I did the change according to the notice and it was too late when I saw Kevin's message. Finally I killed (detached) 3 running machines (I was surely too tired).
----------------------------------------By the way, using app_config.xml, there is also an information mentioning that HST1 is not a valid project anymore ??? But HST1 is still on the list of the active project and one of my machines computed 1 HST1 WU yesterday. Cheers, Yves --- PS: These first weeks with Krembil are not very comforting for the members. We receive too few information and sometime contradicting or inconsistent information. We cannot currently rely on the web site, since the functionalities and the information are not as reliable as there were in the past. |

@sam6861: See msg from knreed: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=666666 I see this, and with more looking, client_state.xml have scheduler_url pointing to https. When I block port 80 with: iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j REJECT (can later delete with -D instead of -I ) It keeps working for a while. But this can stop working on project delete and re-add. Could use HTTPS on project URL but then the message of "old URL" or "attached twice" shows up. I did do the boinc client's master_URL change on rosetta at home to get rid of old URL, use HTTPS message, and it works there. Edit: I should remind that this old URL use HTTPS message shouldn't stop BOINC client from crunching on HTTP if end users do nothing about it, unless the server, firewall, or possibly future Android version, rejects unsecured HTTP. Yves, because you reattached HST1 and maybe other (sub)projects are 'unknown' for your client(s) until the first task of that (sub)project arrives. |

Hi Crystal,
----------------------------------------good point, I did not think about this message within the context of the detach/reattach process. I did not detach a machine since years (probably > 10 years). If the Let's Encrypt issue was not the "topic of the week" during the last days, I would probably have waited prior reacting: my bad. Cheers, Yves |

We're not with Krembil yet, KerSamson.
----------------------------------------Other than a a few new admins (I don't know if they already play a role but I think they are only in the learning phase), we are still with IBM staff, IBM servers, the IBM website, etc. I'm assuming you are getting a message somewhat like "You app config file refers to an unknown application etc". If so, that's because you detached from WCG and attached again, losing the project files. Once you receive a HST1 task, the message should go away. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 2 times, last edit by Falconet at Oct 2, 2021 8:05:16 AM] |

I have changed it back and no-one should receive that message again. No action is required on the users part and you can ignore that message (you also should not receive it again). I'm still receiving the message: You are attached to this project twice. Please remove projects named World Community Grid, then add http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ |

Looks like some newer BOINC client version allows some form of auto switch to HTTPS. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Release_Notes
But, I can guess World Community Grid went to HTTPS for a short time, causing some newer BOINC client to auto switch to HTTPS, then changed back to unecure HTTP, causing BOINC clients which have auto-switched to keep displaying a message again and again to remove and add unsecure HTTP. I am unsure if this auto-switch to HTTPS keeps tasks or not. this auto switch to HTTPS failed to work for me anyway, displays "Attached to this project twice" message. I think we should go with what other project did, switch to HTTPS and stay as HTTPS. Let newer BOINC clients try to auto-switch. Possibly with an announcements to warn users this switch will happen soon. For older BOINC clients, users can find a good time to go no new tasks then eventually re-add project. |

For older BOINC clients, users can find a good time to go no new tasks then eventually re-add project. I did that but nothing changed. I checked client_state.xml and account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml: I found no one http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/, only https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ |
