at first, I did not want to give my view to your post, but as nobody has done so, I will now tell, what I think about "climate studies". It is a good habit in this forum, to reply to every post.

In my view, more climate studies are not really necessary.

Scientists have already done tons of science research. Remember the long ice piles they took from arctica and antarctica?
The ICC report already made it to world headlines.....what more do you want?
Tons of research, tons of studies.

I can see things you cannot see, and believe me: We are spending a lot, a lot of money on energy and climate research.

The reason, why polticians do not act quicker is the following:

Jobs, jobs and jobs again.

Politicians are deadly afraid of not becoming re-elected, because they are viewed as "haven taken away someone's job"

Go to the coal regions and ask coal miners: They will tell you that they want to keep their job, nothing else.

I am not joking now, I am serious:
If you want to do something for the climate, go to your workshop (hope you have one), do someting with your hands there and make a groundbreaking invention.

With this invention, found a firm in a coal region and offer a job to coal miners, that is as well paid as their job now.

Make coal miners stop coal mining.

Climate research will never ever directly create jobs for "men with muscels", blue collar jobs. And this is what we need in coal regions.

If you insist on having a climate project, please:
Chose one on the so called tipping points (i.e. points where climate change becomes a self-propelling process and can not be stopped). As far as I know, it is hard to define exactly where those tipping points are exactly). Or create a project that really helps farmers.
Please do not, not create another simulation that only tells this or that might, might happen if this or that is done.

But remember: Each climat project, be it on World Community Grid or in other fields of science takes away precious, precious scientific and computational resources. Resources, that can help save the live of very ill human beings.

Personally, I strongly prefer projects like mapping cancer markers and other medical projects to climate projects.

I hate to appear non loyal but Folding at Home has Alzheimer studies going and they support GPU work

What we are doing is pure science and that costs money with no guarantee of a payback. The project scientists are reliant on funding and that mostly comes from governments who are very restrictive on their sponsorship.

The projects also need to recruit researchers and they are often in short supply.
