Max_concurrent does not control the queue. It only controls the numbers crunching.
The bug must be elsewhere - my guess is that that the projected time for the units is being underestimated and the cache settings therefore produce large numbers of units. Project Limits should be set to 1 more than the max_concurrent to avoid that problem. Mike |

Project Limits should be set to 1 more than the max_concurrent to avoid that problem. It's not that straightforward: the shared profile was set to 2 ARP, 2 OPN and 1 MCM, with a work cache of 1 day. but still boinc was able to download >100 ARP units and >200 OPN/MCM. This suggests that the device profile was overridden. The bug must be elsewhere - my guess is that that the projected time for the units is being underestimated and the cache settings therefore produce large numbers of units. 300 work units for a 1 day cache would approximate to (~300 units = 24h) an average unit est time of approx. 5 mins, or an underestimate of about 2 orders of magnitude. Is this within the margin of error for the CPU benchmarks?I don't think that this is an app_config bug, simply because the overloaded cache arose in the absence of an app_config.xml. |

There are 2 cache settings. What was the other? Try setting them to 0.3/0.3.

There are 2 cache settings. What was the other? Try setting them to 0.3/0.3 The only two cache settings under the heading are:Workunit Cache Settings Connect to network about every ........... 0.1.......days Cache.............1.0.......extra days of work. How is the frequency of connecting to the server going to prevent the software downloading huge excesses of work? I have seen reference to the min/max in other posts. Where are these min/max settings to be found please? |

That is it. The first is the min and the second is the max additional.

@leloft.
----------------------------------------(store at least 0.5 days of work) and (store up to an additional 0.0 days of work). No app_config for me. Profile (home, school or work)- with ARP (two tasks), all other Projects unlimited and active. Never get a problem of too many tasks downloaded in the past! The balance for work from Boinc (WCG) is perfect!
