Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

I wonder what this new technique means for Rosetta@home.

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

With moving the processing of work in-house I wonder whether they are saving more money than if it was done via WCG volunteers

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

Glad to have had the chance to contribute. A great book that I read at this time got me interested in the microbiome in the first place. Exciting times to see progress this fast in this research area. Looking forward to take the time to read your first publication as well as to any prospective article resulting from WCG work. Thx

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

It would be nice to hear from the WCG techs on what the wind down will look like from a WCG perspective. The researchers say they will end the project the end of June. Does that mean that is when the last batch will be created or have all the batches already been created? Is it possible that there will be work available after June 30 or will we be finishing up the last batches at the end of the month? What is the last batch number?

The estimate that I provided to the researchers was off by a bit. We should have continuous work for about another 33 days +/- 5 or so depending on various factors. This means that we will run out of work somewhere between July 8 and July 18th. At that point we will have about a 14 day period where only resends are sent to finish off the workunits that are still out. This means that the final tasks will be sent out towards the end of July.

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

Thanks for the update!

I should be able to get to 20 years easily with the new estimates.

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

Well, this was a project that I thought I had plenty of time to reach my 5 year goal (and possibly, 10 years), but with currently 4 years and 60 days 'on the clock', it's now not looking promising that I'll even reach 5 years....
As soon as I saw the announcement, I aborted all the WU's I had which hadn't been started, changed my profile to just MIP and I'll just have to see as to how far I get...
If I don't make it, so be it - but at least I'll have given it my best shot...

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

Same here. I currently have 9 years and 63 days completed and was hoping to get the 10 year badge. At only 4 days per day, I don't think I'm going to make it. Sigh.

Re: Important Announcement about the future of the Microbiome Immunity Project

I just cutoff this project at 14:000:03:05:13. I could probably try for the twenty, but I will let others go for their goals. As long as the researchers have a better method to use I will put my resources into OPN and MCM. Good luck to all.
Cheers
