Re: Work unit availability

I'm picking up bursts of Nvidia tasks. But when they have dried up I've always seen, both in the beta and live, the event log reporting that tasks for AMD/ATI GPU and for Intel GPU are available but my preferences are not set to accept them - which is quite true as I only have Nvidia selected. I had assumed this meant that the Nvidia ones were being gobbled up very quickly but that there was always a plentiful supply of the others. But comments here don't seem to support that. Any idea what's going on there?

I was going to ask whether the ratio of tasks for the 3 GPU types is fixed or could be varied to reflect the units consumed by each type, but now I don't know whether that is a valid question.

Re: Work unit availability

This second option only makes sense if you already have a VM running on the computer. For example, a few of my Windows machines have Linux VMs so I can run Linux-only when needed.

Did this work? I have couple of extra VMs on my Win machine.

do those VMs have GPUs passed through to them? this thread is about GPU work after all.

GPU is run on the host machine, all CPU cores on VM(s). Or that's the impression I got.

sorry, I misread your intent (had to go back and find the quoted response for context since this forum doesn't seem to leave you redirects back to them). I thought you were trying to increase your chances to get GPU work by making logical instances via VMs.

Just to make sure.............in my default profile, which is the only one I am using.....
I have Open Pandemics checked, no other projects. I do not have 'no work available/send other projects checked. I have use CPU and use GPU checked.
Should I be able to get GPU work with those settings?

Yes, and from your log that is what is being requested.

Re: Work unit availability

It's just that that there's so little GPU work available that you only get any if your lucky.

I've tried running a script that ask for work every 155 secs, so far I only got work 2 times, 7 and 3 WUs, and they only lasts for a few minutes.
