NVME booting

Does anyone else have problems booting on a NVME? Mine doesn't want to. My system is a Lenovo I7 octa core with 16gb ram and of course the NVME drive in the PCIE slot. The system is only a couple years old and I have updated the bios. The bios won't show the NVME so i let it boot from another drive and run with everything installed in the NVME. This is the first NVME I've had, am i missing something stupidly basic about them?

Re: NVME booting

Booting from NVMe must be supported from the BIOS/UEFI. Most non UEFI mainboards do not support this. If this is the case, one of the options is to have an NVMe SSD with option ROM embedded like te Samsung 850 PRO.

Re: NVME booting

Check your BIOS and try a couple of things. Switch between PCIe, SATA & Auto. On the Boot menu try UEFI + Legacy. Nno idea why either of these work but sometimes they do.

If you have a Lenovo pre-build system, you should have some model number for it? Try searching the web for your model number and "nvme boot" or check the support page/manual of your system.
