The Boinc app has stopped working on my Win10 laptop. Has been running just fine over 16 years on various Win machines and this one for 3 years. Projects backed up ready to upload but did not. Internet connection is working well. I deleted Bonic, downloaded clean app off WCG site and installed. Now it does not even show the projects or in anyway reflect what shows on my account at the WCG website. Anyone else having trouble with running Bonic on Win10 v2004?

Hi,
----------------------------------------Does the BOINC Manager display a message about not bing able to connect to the client? Try this: Open the BOINC Manager, go to "File", click on "Shutdown Local Client", say yes, then type localhost. The password should be automatically filled. Report back. Kind of hard to troubleshoot BOINC at this point, since you installed it. I'd uninstall WCG, reboot, then install BOINC again, and we can go from there with what's wrong.

I had the same problem when I updated Windows 10.
I mentioned to WCG. Then I erased WCG and reinstated in. All went as before since then. |

Thanks much for the reply. I get a dialog "Communicating with BONIC client. Please wait. with the options of Exit WCG or CANCEL. Status on bottom right says "connecting to the local host" but it does not connect no matter how long I wait. If I click cancel it just brings the dialog box back with the same options. It will not allow me to use any other functions in the app. All other equipment I have is working fine with the router which I have reset multiple times, tested speed etc. and all is good on WIFI and Ethernet except with BONIC/WCG. I have shutdown firewalls and antivirus. All of which have been in place all the time BONIC was working in the past. It was also working fine with the latest Win10 update before it went rouge on me.
I will keep trying. Thanks again |

Thanks for the reply. I tried that multiple time as well. It is just my machine, Win10, and perhaps internet setting just not playing well with each other. Everything else on the machine is working fine. No more time to play with this, so time to put it behind me for now. Thanks again...

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate you taking the time to do so. The app won't let me go to File or anything else, just the dialog box I mention in my previous post. There is a ghost in my machine that I will have to track down at another time. Keep up the great work crunching the data.
Cheers |
