The only thing I don't understand is that there is a dedicated account key for accessing the WCG project in BOINC. IMHO that means that all users running the Linux client are identified as the same user and the points don't seem to be added to your user account... The account key that you were given is unique to the member name that it was created for. That is a mechanism that BOINC uses to link the linux clients to that account. The same member name can have both linux clients and windows clients registered under it. I was referring to the fact that the installation description for the Linux client gives (prints) an account key the user should enter! If the users do as instructed and enter that key, then all users run under the same account. I was under the assumption that this instruction was intended so there was a reason that the user should not enter his private account key. Anyway, the BOINC points can not be merged with the points here in the "classic" client stats, can they? Best, Stefan. |

Stefan,
----------------------------------------The images contain an account key that is abcd1234abcd1234abcd1234abcd1234 which is an example only. If that account key is used, then users will receive a message stating that the account key cannot be used. If however, you following the instructions and use the account key that is in bold on that page, then you will successfully register the client for your user. That page is dynamically generated and the page contains your personal account key on it. You actually either have to have just registered or be signed on in order to view that page. Since launching a little over an hour ago we have had 11 different users register computers under their seperate user id. As regards to points - check out this FAQ: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=linpointscalc Kevin [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Nov 1, 2005 3:49:29 PM] |

System also sent me an E-mail with the my key in it.
----------------------------------------Kind of a nice thing to have since I've been having a habbit of making my Linux installations very angry at times... (Oooo... What happens if I do this??? Ooops prob shouldn't have done that.) ![]() |

Hi Kevin,
If however, you following the instructions and use the account key that is in bold on that page, then you will successfully register the client for your user. That page is dynamically generated and the page contains your personal account key on it. Well, THAT'S CLEVER!! The bold key was the one I saw but I didn't realize it was generated magically for me. Way cool -- thanks!!!Best, Stefan. |
