Device Manager and Device Profiles

1. Should be able to sort on the Device Manager columns.

2. The "Installed/Registered Device:" and "or With Result(s) Returned:" pulldown menus should be replaced with check-boxes or something that doesn't reset every time you refresh the page. I've never found any use for these but maybe someone does.

3. Replace the "Default home work school" profiles with something interesting. PrimeGrid uses the 9 planets. One could use the first 12 elements: hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, neon, sodium & magnesium.
Or famous scientists & mathematicians: Copernicus, Darwin, Pasteur, Einstein, Newton, Gauss, Kepler, Lavoisier, Maxwell, Mendel, Archimedes, Curie, Steno, Hutton

Re: Device Manager and Device Profiles

The device profile names are standard across all boinc projects. If you change home on project A, it will affect all other projects and proliferates to all clients connected to home. Users of an AMS would pull their hair as to who is who. Someone complained about WCG not being in the top 100 users' favor... non-standard to includes half a dozen descriptors on the profiles is one of the big gripes.

Re: Device Manager and Device Profiles

Do the same as PrimeGrid, leave the 4 lame names there and add better ones.

Re: Device Manager and Device Profiles

That's your opinion, you can still create your own 'named' profiles, and i think that's a WCG exclusive.

Re: Device Manager and Device Profiles

I second this. But instead of preset names it would be very helpful to let the user add groups then create the group names.

This would be very helpful in terms of productivity management for those of us with more than a few compute nodes.
