I have a couple MACs, one running WCG and the other running BOINC. Both set for auto updates from Apple. But WCG and BOINC both prevent my MACs from restarting. Even if I do RESTART from the system menu. So I have to "FORCE QUIT" WCG or BOINC to get a restart. I'm not sure if there is some setting or 'preference' that I can change on my MACs or if this behavior is a BUG, or (worse IMO) by design? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi Mike,
There is no option that prevents the restart. It is probably that the shutdown is taking to long because the state is written to disk. Maybe your checkpoint preferences are long and there is much to write to disk. I have my mac setup for writing every 600 seconds to disk. Maybe try to experiment with this. But it is better to shutdown the client manually and then restart Hope this helps Sjmielh |

This is something that Mr Fenton at Berkeley BOINC developers might be able to help you. He's specialized in building and supporting the OS-X releases. Go to the BOINC forums https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_index.php and include the exact OS-X version and system it runs on. One of the admins there will surely pass the message.
