hi,
I got this error message after running it for years. It might have been related to a recent OS upgrade (now at MacOS Catalina 10.15.6)? In any event, I reinstalled the World Community Grid software from the link at top right of the site, rebooted, and it is still giving me the error. Any other suggestions? |

Update: After the reboot a couple of minutes ago, I also got an error from the OS about legacy system extensions. It does not mention the World Community Grid SW, but the timing is suspicious...

What is the error that World Community Grid gives?

Good Q. More details: I am running it as a screensaver. It appears that it does not start when the screensaver kicks in.
The full error message that floats around the screen in lieu of the screensaver showing WCG process is: Can't launch default screensaver module. Please reinstall World Community Grid The screensavers that come with MacOS work OK still. |

I Quit the WCG program from the program menu and then started the screensaver, to force it to restart. Now I am not getting the error message but the screensaver is just a blank screen; it does not show the usual WCG stats as it runs. After logging back in, it appears the reason the screen is blank is that it did not start the WCG app.

I re-installed it again and now it is working. That is odd since the last re-install completed successfully. In any event I am back up and running.
My next step was going to be to de-install it completely and re-install, but not sure if that involves backing up data and config info or losing work in process, so I am happy it is working. Thanks Mosqueteiro. |
