Three conditions must be fulfilled in order to be eligible for the THOR Challenge Pure: 1- Not to be a team affiliated (directly or indirectly) with a company, association, foundation, government agency, administration, university, college or school. 2- Not to be a team rewarding the distributed computing of its volunteers financially. 3- Have at least participated in the first week of the THOR Challenge (September 07 to September 13, 2020). Genuinely not trying to be awkward about this, but I am curious about the decision making process regarding eligibility under item 1. I do realise that "The judge's decision is final" and all that, but the process seems a little arbitrary. My team which is just made up of readers of an online tech news site, and has no support (financial or equipment) from that site, is classed as ineligible for Pure, but HardOCP appear to be eligible, yet I believe that was formed from readers of an online computer hardware news and review site? Also Halifax Imperial Wheelers appears to be an amateur (i.e. non profit) cycling club and is classed as ineligible for Pure, but US Navy Veterans is classed as eligible despite having a strong link to a large government agency, and some of that team are probably currently receiving funds (via pay or pensions) from the US Navy. I do realise that my team is highly unlikely to make it to the Pure competition, but it is a bit deflating to see you are knocked out even before the start.
