cool Interesting, Client keyed off of MAC Address

Didn't know the client keyed in off of MAC Address. Had a MB that I put out to pasture over a year ago, when I upgraded.

Had to go back to it, put a new hard drive and Linux Mint system on it. Low and behold if it didn't bring in the stats with it from when I retired it. I always thought there was a file inside the client that it keyed off of.

Re: Interesting, Client keyed off of MAC Address

Certain hardware identification takes place as part of 4-5 elements that are checked but it's far from infallible. See help https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewS...an+once+on+my+device+list

MAC is new, maybe you specified in the router to always assign same internal IP. Got DHCP running but all known devices in the router are locked to a designated IP address which bases of that MAC code. This allowed in addition to assign meaningful names to android devices when viewing the network pages in the router/modem.
