The whole system has been based on PCs & Laptops which can hold a larger cache and finish quicker. The assumption is that when a re-send arrives, it will be a little while before it starts. That gives a bit of extra time for the original unit to report. When that happens, the re-send is checked to see if it has started and gets aborted if it hasn't.
With android devices, the units take longer and the cache is much smaller, or non-existent. This means that the re-send is started much sooner and can't be recalled. The only answer that I can see is for those units allocated to android devices to have longer deadlines so that a much higher proportion finish within the deadline, thereby removing the problem. Longer deadlines should not be a problem as this is not going to be a short project and reducing replication would speed the project. Mike |

agreed, Mike. The lowest-end laptops come with hundreds of GB of storage. Androids aren't at that point yet. Hopefully the WCG team can fix this issue. It's one thing to have a lot of resources. It's another to manage it effectively.

Agreed. The more effective the management, the sooner the work will get done. However, there is the question of human resources and android is recent on WCG.
