Congrats to yoerik for reporting the first 47xxx batch!

thank you for making that chart and keeping track for all of us! When I first made the thread, I had no idea it would be this established a year later - and community members like you and Mike working to help keep track of OPN1's progress... I think you two deserve congratulations and thanks far more than I do for being lucky enough to notice I had a particular WU.

Thank you for the kind words, it really motivates me to create charts! :)
A sense/visualization of progress I think motivates a lot of people to continue supporting long-running tasks/objectives. The amount of computations needed for a project like this are massive, and even with computers of today, it does take time. And during that time, I can imagine many may feel like the ultimate reward for the effort spent is far away. A simple graph, table or thread for progress tracking can help a lot I think.

Now we are nearing the end of first CPU-based target, let's try to beat that projected end date! ;)

46000 Krzysztof_F 5 May
47000 yoerik 10 May

Who will report the first 48,000? Possibly about 15 May.

As there are reportedly 50,000 batches, this would represent 94% of the first target, once we have returned more over 47000s than there are under, incomplete.

Based on the last 10 intervals, my forecast for the end of the first target adjusts to 11 June 2021. The interval recently halved, but the number of results returned has stayed roughly the same. I suspect some batches have been used for OPNG.

Based on the last 6 intervals, my forecast would be 3 June 2021.

Re: What's the highest iteration you have received?

It is good to be appreciated.

I know that badge hunters, especially, like to know when a project is likely to finish so that they can plan their crunching strategies. However, we haven't been advised as to the size of future targets so will be unable to estimate targets. I will continue the spreadsheet but without the target date. That can be reinstated when information is available.

We are currently completing 1000 batches about every 5 days. Is that the best frequency of ongoing reporting or should we start to report every 5000?

Meanwhile, I am about to reach 10 years on OPN1, so will concentrate on getting ARP1, MIP1 (and SCC1 when it returns) up to 5 years plus MCM1 to 20 years.

I will keep OPN1 and HST1 on tickover pending those goals. All the projects are worthy but I like to set goals and see them being achieved as often as possible.

Anyone wanting a spreadsheet to monitor and forecast badges only has to ask me. My spreadsheet has badges allocated up to 2000 years which is well beyond the current WCG badges and much further than I will ever achieve. I just enjoy writing spreadsheets!

Happy crunching.

Mike
